OVER THE WEEKEND, NO LABELS, the political organization that threatens to ensure Donald Trump’s election in 2024 by getting a third-party candidate on the ballot across the country, issued its so-called 2024 platform.

Sixty-three pages of political pablum, the ā€œplatformā€ is meant to soothe us to sleep, which is exactly the state No Labels hopes voters will be in so they pick its candidate. History tells us that third parties never win, but they can flip elections to candidates like Trump who can’t secure a majority. That outcome in 2024 would severely endanger American democracy.

🚨OVERTIME🚨

Happy Monday! I hope you had a great weekend. Ours was rainy and humid, but I discovered the greatness of reusable water balloons at a kid’s birthday party. Last week, ICYMI, I did a Twitter Space about the GOP Candidate forum at the FAMiLY Leadership Summit, and a podcast with our friends at Connors Forum on the anatomy of a viral conspiracy theory.

Why were they grateful? It was the last concert of The Greatful Dead, over the weekend. End of an era. ā€œWhy were they grateful?ā€ is one of those back-of-the-car questions my dad would always leave for me to ponder when telling me about The Grateful Dead on hockey road trips. In 1971, my TKE brothers at Saint Louis U. brought the Dead to the Gateway City, you can listen to that concert for free, or buy an LP if you’re into that. An amazing concert.

Asa! goes to TPUSA… And meets a predictable chorus of boos and Trump chants.

Seven(!) AGs target Target over pride merch… And Walter Olson has something to say about that.

Harlan Crow is back in the news… This time over the yacht trips and his tax bill.

Meanwhile, in the ā€œFree State of Floridaā„¢ā€ā€¦. Veterans quit DeSantis’ Florida State Guard over militialike training.

…and in Virginia… The back to school sales tax holiday didn’t happen because legislators forgot to renew it. Whoops!

… and in Ohio… Secretary of State Frank LaRose gets caught playing favorites. And Dayton quit using the controversial ā€œshotspotter.ā€

… and in the Nation’s Capital… A new way to limit oversized trucks on the streets. Here’s the house the FBI supposedly uses to spy on the Russians.

Daily Caller 2.0? Tucker Carlson and Neil Patel are trying to put the band back together, but under the Twitter banner.

An interesting case… A police officer used his phone to see through a tinted window. Does this qualify as a search?

Good news! The MAGA persecution complex… is eating itself to death, Greg Sargent argues.

Republicans celebrate… their successful deception of voters. Read Dana Milbank at the Post on the Chris Wray hearing.

A gay couple ran a rural restaurant in peace… Then new neighbors arrived. (Guess where the new neighbors were on January 6?)

In George Santosland… George Santos’s campaign is paying… George Santos.

Steal John Lewis’s portrait… Get four years in prison. ā€œJudge Beryl Howell said it was ironic that Kevin Lyons called police officers Nazis on Jan. 6 because the attack on the U.S. Capitol was ā€˜about the most fascistic’ thing she’d seen.ā€
