I read a review of the Devil Wears Prada 2 in Euro News that said good things about it doing things that most remakes fail to do, which is make it relevant to the times. So, knowing that it was out, I rewatched the original, and I think Emily Blunt's character is really the person that mentored Anne Hatheway's character the most. So, we are going to see it tomorrow night when it will be played in the original English, because nothing ruins an American movie more then German voices dubbed in.

I wouldn't call "Devil" a sports movie, but if doing so expands its audience, so be it

I saw “The Devil Wears Prada” when it came out, and Meryl Streep’s (now much-quoted) speech about the cerulean sweater stopped me — a schlubby, scoffing *man* — in my tracks. “Oh,” I muttered, getting it.

Will have to revisit.

The original DWP falls into a class of film I call "good to get drunk to." It's not too long, you can pace yourself off the expected story beats, and if you start drinking at the beginning of the film, by the end, you should have a nice buzz. In other words, the perfect film for adults

Interesting background about Paramount–Warner Bros deal re: Chinese financing & CFIUS review. $111 billion is a lot of scratch. Leverage over a large fraction, even tho non-majority, seems consequential. Regardless what Trump admin decides to do, can we count on the Senate to closely examine the situation? Tom Cotton has a deep interest in ties to the Chinese Communist Party in entertainment & tech, as I recall - https://www.nbcnews.com/news/asian-america/tom-cotton-backlash-tiktok-ceo-shou-chew-rcna136673 ...but that was under a different prez. The gentleman from Arkansas may be running in a different direction now that the current prez likes both TikTok and selling US chip technology to China

PS - condolences on your loss, Sonny

The deal sounds creepy on all levels, and really am mad that Netflix was iced out of the merger. Another reason to hate the people who voted for Trump.

I too am a big fan of 'The Devil Wears Prada.' I was just eked out on my list of the top five films of the first quarter of this century, but I had Indie Fever and went with Sarah Polley's 'Save this Waltz' instead. If I would have followed the NY Times and chosen 10 films, Prada would be on the list.

Thanks for the nudge to watch the first "The Devil Wears Prada" film. I noticed it was showing of HBO last night and kind of had it on my watch if nothing else looks good list. But now with the idea of it being a sports movie, then Hell Ya! Bring on the popcorn!
