Sounds like a replay of my 30's; stopped smoking (tobacco) at 36, started running and ran my first 5k and a year later my first marathon, followed by 19 more over the next 18 years when my joints began to complain. I was nearsighted, too. Never wore contacts, but in my late 40's my vision straightened out to 20/20 for a year or so and I went without specs for awhile, until the farsightedness began and I had to have readers, too. Now, after bilateral cataract surgery, I am still wearing half-frame readers.
