My July plans are to not leave my house except for work, church, and the gym. It is too hot and miserable to do anything outside. I plan my vacations for October and February when it's cooler and less crowded. I hate Summer so much. Every childhood vacation was a trip to the beach, usually Panama City, sometimes Myrtle. Staying in our Holiday Rambler trailer in a campground. I was allowed to ride my bike or walk to the pool, to the playground, or to the onsite store to buy junkfood. As long as I came back when I was told, my parents let me run loose.
Jim! Thank you for including Mr. Nordlinger's travel diary. I have been fortunate enough to go to Italy twice and really enjoyed his reading his thoughts and seeing the pictures, particularly the places I have been.
My husband has a conference in Milwaukee this upcoming week and we are flying there today. I am really excited about it. We have a boat trip and a hike planned for tomorrow and while he is conferencing I am going to do an e-bike tour of the city. If anyone has any suggestions about activities in Milwaukee, I am all ears.
We didn't really go on vacations when I was a child, 7 children, too expensive. Each summer we would do day trips in our gold paneled station wagon (the back seats were pushed down and my dad had covered the back with shag carpet. No seat belts!) It was the law of the jungle back there! We would go to a beach or Disneyland or Dodger Stadium (preferably when the St. Louis Cardinals were playing there). I just can't imagine how a family of 9 could afford either Disneyland or Dodger Stadium in 2026.
Thank you, Jim, for continuing to bring the plight of Springfield's Haitian community to national attention.
Thousands of these people lost their work authorization yesterday.
The Haitian Support Center continues to provide immigration legal services, emergency assistance, food support, youth programs, interpretation and translation, referrals, and advocacy for Haitian families trying to navigate these difficult times.
They can all use the help caring people, especially their Ohio neighbors, can provide.
In Norway now just in time for their match tonight. I'm thinking of never leaving. It is a really beautiful country. And its government wants to preserve its natural beauty.
Jim Swift standing up with the facts for democracy, thanks

One of the emerging and most urgent needs is food. If you’re so inclined, here’s a way to be a monthly food box donor: https://ancljkuy.donorsupport.co/page/FoodBox
