Biden initially ran on being “transitional leadership” in response to concerns from the dem base about dem geriatric leadership. He implied one term to take out Trump and fix our foreign policy relationships. He should have chosen a VP who could beat Trump and then groomed his successor.
The problem is that there never was a clear choice for that successor. During the ideal window to set this up, every other Democratic figure polled below Biden, nationally vs. Trump -- which is basically how Biden won the nomination in the first place.
