I found the Hannibal series starring Mads Mikkelsen and Hugh Dancy very well done, from the story line to the quality of the acting to its cinematography. Serial killers are alien to most of us, except other serial killers, and when art is done well, such as the books you discussed and movies, such as Manhunter and the Netflix series Mindhunter, we get a look at the real monsters among us.
This is a really fun conversation. So fun that when I realized that Hannibal was released in theaters 25 years ago this very week, I did not feel like I was turning into dust, because I was so engaged with it.
Shout-out to Half Price Books. You *do* live in Texas, Sonny!
It's too bad that Harris lost the plot. His last novel, Cari Mora, was trash.

Harris's SILENCE OF THE LAMBS is one of the most audaciously, yet tightly plotted novels ever.
