On the topic of supplements, two points:

1. The crank snake oil treatments of the late 1800s are a focus of Kurt Andersen’s book Fantasyland, about America’s 500yr-old culture of delusion, conspiracy and magical thinking. A terrific book.

2. The supplement manufacturers are often owned by big pharma. Which makes wellness influencers’ passion for them all the more ironic.

Julian, Thanks for having Jonathan on the share to share his insights and commentary. It was an informative discussion that also highlighted negative ramifications. It's a given, Trump only cares about himself and the Herr and now. However, just like crypto, if the solar or wind companies can line his pockets with some big money, he'll fall in love with them. He's in no hurry because he still has plenty of extortion to work on the oil companies. Now with RFK it's hard to imagine how we got a guy with no medical training, no scientific training and no research training in charge of America's health care. I'm sorry, I forgot, Trump owed him for his 3% of the vote in the election. Of course the Republican Senate just had to do their share to stay in good graces. Julian asked what the connection is. Jonathan gave a very thoughtful and accurate answer with a high degree of plausibility. If I may, I'd like to add my cynical take on the matter. It's no secret who is really running the country every single day of our lives. Ultra wealthy white guys are in charge. They want to make more money each and every day. They don't want to pay any taxes. They don't want any regulations or oversight. And they certainly don't want to waste one thin dime for anyone's misfortune or anyone's health care. Trump and RFK are just helping out their buddies.

I'll take BIG PHARMA any day over any health regime which might make me look (and sound! and think!!) like RFK minor.

Didn't RFK Jr. used to work for NRDC? Has he abandoned all of that?

More of this, please! The CDC situation needs more media coverage than it's currently getting.

Cohn doesn't get enough air time in Bulwark podcasts.

Tangent: does Sarah Longwell have any interest in a focus group on healthcare with Cohn as guest commenter?

Sounds good. But don't let Jonathan hear too many previous Focus Groups. He might decline the invite. 😳
