I am so glad that humanity reigns in the state of Arizona, to face off with federal brutality. Homan has been identified as receiving bribe money by the FBI, which is ignoring that. Trump told his sycophants he would eliminate the criminals. Instead he hires them to commit further crimes. Due process now.
Arizona resident here 👋 Arpaio cost taxpayers millions in lawsuits due his shenanigans. No one is eager to repeat the trauma of those days besides his small cult following in Fountain Hills.
Why do I suspect that, practically speaking, "soft-sided detention facilities" will be to "concentration camps" as "enhanced interrogation techniques" was to "torture"?
I live in Tucson and have witnessed the evolution of Arizona from red to blue over the past decade, largely as your article says because of opposition to SB1070 and Arpaio. Trump and his henchmen will only solidify the opposition if they continue with their inhumane and illegal immigration policies.
Citizens of Phoenix…Get Ready! Whistles are cheap and readily available on Amazon. Get organized so that the presence of ICE Gestapo in neighborhoods can be rapidly communicated! Know your rights! Care for your fellow human beings as you live your religious and moral principles!
Perhaps the horrid immigration enforcement tactics since 2024 will make a difference in Maricopa County (the largest county by population in AZ) and swing it back into the blue, but before I get too sanguine, it looks like Trump beat Harris in Maricopa County by 3.5% (roughly 70,000 votes). Probably some (or maybe most) of that swing was due to the perception of those voters that Trump would be better than Biden, but some portion no doubt favored Trump's perceived toughness on immigration. It remains to be seen how many of these 2024 Trump voters will actually desert him and the Republicans going forward.
Is there any legislative support in Arizona for laws, like California's, that fight back on the state level? Now that Kavanaugh has kinda sorta withdrawn from his position that resulted in racially based "Kavanaugh Stops", it would help if such could be prohibited as a matter of violation of the STATE constitution, along with a private right of action against anyone who could be proven to have arrested without probable cause even if the "guess" turns out to be correct in that the person arrested is undocumented. This should be a right of action of the FAMILIES of the detained, giving citizen children a tool to challenge unwarranted arrests.
And this right of action should include any immigration official who issues an "administrative" warrant without actually finding a valid probable cause NOT based on race.
It is still hard for me to get my head around my tax dollars going toward terrorizing communities (immigrant or not, legal or not), in an effort to scare others from coming here and making our country stronger and greater. Aside from the human tragedy, from a purely economic viewpoint, it's suicidal. Why would we want to alienate the hardest-working young people, and accelerate the looming old-age demographic problem? It's all so insane that so many Americans don't understand where this leads.
A lot of Latino Maga's in AZ will get dragged off the streets by these ICE fools. Will THEY still be voting Red in 26/28?

Thank you for your thankfully incessant reporting! 🙏🏽
“Early onset Trumpism” is a brilliant phrase and should be widely adopted!

It's hard for you to get your head around it because you're not dumb as fuck and full of hate.
It just never ends does it? I often wonder if Detroit is on Millers list of blue cities on a border.
Racists are nuts.
With my writing on credit and debt collections, it is happening everywhere. this is far beyond the scope of anybody's understanding.
Way to bring voters over to the Dems.
Isn't it about time we started calling these "detention centers" by their real name - "concentration camps"?
Just one small step from "We're moving them on" to "Too many to move on - we had to find another way. . ."
