Is a new Ford selling for 10k really that different of a lie from invaders at the border or Dem cities burning to cinders? This distinction does matter somewhat.)
Point being, the true, actual problems aren’t even enough. They all have to get zapped i to absolute fantasy land to keep the Fox viewers engaged. Junkies needing a heavier fix is the most apt comparison. But also, if these problems in their truer, legit form aren’t enough to get them properly enraged, then perhaps Biden isn’t fiddling over a burning Rome after all. An apocalyptic Portland and unsellable Lib Trucks though, almost too bad to be true.
Colbert had it right. It's all about "truthiness". It doesn't have to be objective truth. It just has to feel right. The Fox audience doesn't like EVs, doesn't want to believe there is anything good about them and they are very willing to go with the idea that a major auto manufacturer is selling a brand new vehicle for $10,000. So it passes the truthiness test and they won't hold it against this Fox guy or anyone else.
But aren’t they exhausted by all that anger? I have a very low tolerance for it myself, and take occasional news breaks to cool off, because constant anger feels awful.
I've got a Progressive cousin in Manhattan, and we like to share crude memes in a group text. Everybody needs a crude group text. He asked me "is woke really a fundamental threat?" And I just responded with "does it matter?" There's really no difference between an actual threat and a conjured threat. In the words of Morpheus "your mind makes it real"

"Conjured threat." Love that. Somebody needs to come up with a script that gets that across to MAGA.
Sandman fan? Oh, wait, wrong Morpheus, LOL. I forgot the Matrix character was named that.
