Making a bad deal and giving up royalties reminded me of Ossac Isaac in "Inside Llewyn Davis" selling his rights to "Please Mr. Kennedy" for $600.

Not worth the money. It was released here in Spain and I was surprised the line to get in. Gun nuts was loud and clear and only emphasizes what the Europeans think of Americans….

I started this pod yesterday but had to stop it at the point where Alyssa said "spoiler alert" so I could go see the movie before I finished the pod. I saw the movie this afternoon. I can't even address the finer points of your discussion because I left the movie feeling the same way I did when I saw the J6 insurrectionists invade our capitol. I have yet to shake that feeling.

One point I can agree with, though, is that it is a good thing that neither side is defined by its politics nor is the genesis of the conflict defined. In the end, they are all the same and it is not good.

Not a feel-good movie but definitely one everyone should see.

There was a 2023 novel “Prophet Song” that is about an Irish family struggling in a Dystopian Ireland with an authoritarian government in control. A really good book, and it won the Booker Prize (best novel published in the UK and Ireland). The author is Paul Lynch.

This Blair Witch business...

Rather than doing this whole statement and trying to create a social media movement behind them they should have some self-respect and go to horror movie conventions and charge $100 for a picture! That's what you do when you are part of a pop-culture phenomenon! You go out and make your own money off of it! Now they got me in a comment section using exclamation marks!

Also, Lionsgate could've headed this whole thing off by doing what Jason Blum did with John Carpenter on the Halloween. He gave him money and got to put his name on it. The Blair Witch Trio could've been made them Executive Producers and paid to generate goodwill. In that case they could've done conventions and charged $100 for a photo.

The tease for Friday's discussion about the dog directed by a Sonny fave excites me!

Terrific discussion on Civil War

I saw Civil War and thought it was one in a long series of dystopia/collapse of society movies/shows from the past 10-15 years. Its really well done and the images stay with you but I'm kind of with Alyssa that it doesn't work for me.

If you want to talk about journalists in this context, I prefer Joachin Phoenix in Hotel Rwanda. He had more of an impact in 10 minutes of screen time than this whole movie. And the line "People in America are going to watch this and say 'That's horrible,' and then go right back to eating their dinner." It sums up the apathy better than the lines you mentioned in Civil War.

Thanks for the suggestion. I’m on Bulwark for the politics. What is the setting for the movies? I don’t see it. Sorry to bother

What is this topic and how does it fit into Bulwark’s mission?

I kind of look at it as if the shoe was on the other foot. I don't think it would be tolerated if a studio made a movie with Brad Pitt where they paid him $30 million and then could sue him for the money back if it bombed.
