When I watch the cowardice of the gop, I realize that I no longer need to wonder just what the hell happened in Germany in the 30s.

Perhaps MAGA just means Make Adolf Great Again, with TFG as Adolf's stand-in?

For old Lardbelly Biscuitbutt to be a proper substitute for Hitler he would need to grow that little toothbrush moustache. Problem is, an orange tuft wouldn't make him appear more menacing, just sillier. He'd need to keep a can of Kiwi black polish in his makeup bag, alongside his wig glue, fake tan and denture cream.

I did watch that series. It was phenomenal.

I have recommended it to all my GOP voting family

I have been saying this for years. I used to watch the WW2 documentaries and wonder how "normal" people could go along with the nazis

After watching the MAGA movement I understand. I have family members who are "normal" people in all aspects of there life but voted for Trump twice. These are not die hard MAGA types. They just chose to look the other way as Trump committed atrocities

They were like the slowly boiling frog

My father in law vowed to never vote for trump after Jan 6. I said bullshit and bet him $100. I now use that bet as a reminder to him so that every time he softens his stance I say "you wanna just pay me now?"

I know what will happen with time.

His "absolutely never voting again" will soften into "maybe he wasn't that bad" or "the dems are worse".

I believe that this is a very racist country. That is why so many, Trumpsters have no problem supporting the racist, xenophobic TFG. At this point, I challenge anyone to name a single Republican member of Congress who does not support a racist agenda. Look at what the House just did to Ilhan Omar. Trump made it okay to say racist things out loud. Previously the GOP had to use coded messages to mask their racism.

Hope you donate that $100 to a Dem candidate when it happens and inform fil where his money went.

That's a great idea. I'll donate it to the local socialist party

When I was a kid in school, learning about WWII and the Holocaust, I wondered how people could be so stupid and willfully blind. As like you, I watched in real time how it can happen.

See, that's just it. Sure, overthrowing the US Government is bad, but Liberals are letting school children who identify as cats to use litterboxes in schools. They have no choice but to vote for the sober, responsible Republicans. The Democrats are just too woke. [Believe me, I wish I was sarcastically exaggerating their views.]

Had this thought the other day:

For discussion with a 'conservative' :

1. Start by suggesting that a society that puts litter boxes in classrooms has gone off the rails and needs to seriously examine what got them there.

2. They presumably agree.

3. Point out that the litterboxes are there not for furries, but because lockdowns from active shooters can last long enough that there has to be some kind of urination solution.

4. Now ask if they really want to examine what has gotten us there.

Amen! Unfortunately, it'll more likely be:"argle bargle freedom isn't free," or "2nd ammendment woooooo." I hate how badly we've screwed up to the point where school active shooter drills are a thing and more needed than fire drills.

Exactly.

He'll find some reason why the libs are worse and talk himself into it. He'll start saying "yeah but the economy" and "yeah i know he's an idiot but..." or "it could never happen here..."

The bet is only to remind him of how he felt on 1/6

There's your in. "Since I was right in hindsight about Trump, perhaps you'll entertain a few facts that enlighten my thinking about Republican vs. Democratic stewardship of the economy and our national debt."

That's a good bet. If your father-in-law doesn't vote for Trump, that essentially an admission he was wrong to vote for Trump to begin with, and people don't like to admit they were wrong. Or played for marks.

He actually admitted to me that he was wrong to vote for Trump.

He said he was wrong to not listen to us about Trump and that we saw what he didn't

Again whenever he softens his view I say "You know I'm always right in hindsight, don't you?"

I figure it's a win / win

I either win $100 or I prevent a trump vote

If he doesn't vote trump there's a strong chance my mother in law won't either.
