Just got out of the theater, walked to compass coffee, and immediately went to Sonny’s review. All resonates, in particular your point about the planning the bad thing, the actual bad thing Rachel did, but the almost bad thing is really bad! Excellent.
I liked it a bit better than Dream Scenario (which was above average Nicholas Cage). My wife, who had not seen Dream Scenario and likes Zendaya, walked out. Kristoffer Borgli movies are intended to be polarizing so, with my family, he succeeded.
Thank you for this review. I now definitively know that I don’t want to see it. Also actual violence is worse than planned but not carried out violence. Lastly if someone wanted to plan a massacre one stupid bsod wouldn’t stand in their way. That was a stupid plot twist.
well, I'll give her another chance, I totally understood the ' tennis film ' but almost gave up on her talents, she has talents, intent, attitude, stance big things in life.
I found the allegory for American life to be even deeper and more current, in that we are gripped with suspicion and fear of each other, over violent fantasies born of cultural rot (that have not yet been committed). As in American polarization, the problem is not material--it's all "drama" (another word for superficial online conflict). As one of the lovers asks, "Can't we just start over?" As an American in 2026, that sentiment hit home.
The point of No Kings Day? The point of Minneapolis resistance? The Americans I hang out with don't like violence. Likers of violence are too many, yet still a minority in this country.
We are not, Not, NOT the morally weak hearts, the ugly souls, of this movie's poorly reared characters.
Sorry, the premise is just….boring. About the only thing interesting about the twist is that school shootings are overwhelmingly perpetrated by boys and young men.
I have never seen any movie with these actors or directors. Not my style. However, your excellent description makes me think this is yet another film, despite "outside perspectives," that portrays violence and its intentions under the guise of a questioning perspective, but plays into the minds of those that like an amenable portrayal of violence--many if not most US Americans. 🕊️
I normally avoid spoilers. But reading the first half of your review, it was so good I could not help but keep reading. And now, even knowing what “The Drama” is, I want to see this.

This is how everyone should watch movies: Immediately seeking out my opinion afterward!

A good friend of mine’s daughter plays young Emma, so for that reason alone I hope the film does well. I’m looking forward to seeing it.
Jordyn did a great job!

Same here. Can't wait to see it. But I'm not going to show this article to my wife until after we've seen it.
Great work, Sonny.
It's an interesting movie, I strongly recommend checking it out!
