I will not vote for any of these MAGA. In some cases, I will vote for the Democrate. Just to defate these who are wrecking our country.

Love it!

I'd love to see each state's party registration numbers from 2012 (or earlier) through present. I have a suspicion that it has declined in states that went for Biden and stagnated in ones that went for Trump. But the numbers would tell.

Good Lord what a horrible job you have having to talk to Josh Hawley. I feel so bad for you.

Hugging the wingnuts is a death spiral for the GOP. Please keep hugging. Maybe a real political party can rise from the ashes.

I live in the Natural State and I'm not

only a Never Trumper, Never MAGA,

but also a NEVER GOPer. I'm BLUE and proud of it. There are lots of us

here in Arkansas and we'll keep

building 1 vote at a time. And Joe, I

don't think there are many

"conservatives" left in the rethuglican party.

All I can say about Dhillon is that she’s a great knitter

Curious if you asked Hawley what he meant by "things that happened there were terrible. It’s gotta get fixed"? He's still promoting the 'big lie' and campaigned for two wackos in another state. Don't give him a pass on that. There is no reason to treat Hawley's opinion as credible

Love the art work, Ha!

At this point if you are an anti-Trumper left in the GOP, you are deluding yourself.

"--you know Blake suffered from the same issue in terms of votes--"

Well, duh. He didn't get enough of 'em. Ditto Lake. Nothing like stating the obvious there, Josh, even when you can't see it for (or admit it to) yourself.

Slow down. Don't run so fast. Take time to smell the coffee.

Props on the artwork!

The Republicans are delusional if they can reach out to normal people who care about the country. These people are not reachable by them. I am not reachable by them.

By the way, Never-Trumper is starting to seem too limited a term. I am Never-MAGA, Never-Hate and Conspiracy, Never-Stupid and Uninformed, all which seem to describe the GOP.

Radicals is the best term for them, because they want to tear long-standing systems of governance and stability out by the roots.

Luddites are how I think of them. Reactionaries against a period of rapid social change.

NLTownie's avatar

Luddites are misunderstood. They were against change that changed society for the worse. They saw the social results of industrialization and saw it was only going to get worse. They saw people working from sunrise to sunset six and seven days a week, working in dangerous conditions that maimed and killed. Small children were employed. The workers had no rights or protections and little pay. They lived in squalid housing and were treated worse than horses or dogs. The Luddites broke machines in attempts to improve the lives of workers - doing the wrong thing for the right reasons. They weren’t against innovation. They were against exploitation of the poor by the rich.

Bluchek Mark's avatar

Luddites believed in the value of their labor and way of life which they saw as endangered by industrialization and attendant unsafe working conditions (eg, in large scale textile mills). I’m not convinced that the right-wing extremists in Congress or the folks who vote them in believe in much of anything. They are nihilists, not Luddites.

NLTownie's avatar

I want a bumper sticker that says -

Luddites Were Right

Or, “Have You Hugged Your Luddite Today?”

That's an excellent point, thank you.

Grifters, half-wits and crypto fascists. This is what a once great party has become! Shame on them and bad for the cause of freedom at home and abroad.

The party of Lincoln is no more. I was once a republican and willing to donate to good causes. Today Republicans support no causes other than contempt for anyone who doesn't agree with their viewpoint. The same can be said for the other extreme. When will America get back to solving problems and tackling issues head-on rather than virtue signaling and rank tribalism?

knowltok's avatar

I'd like a clarification here. You characterize republicans negatively and then use the phrase: "The same can be said for the other extreme" Do you mean Democrats? Do you mean the far left? What group are you equating to Republicans when you use that phrase?
