And I do think the 24 hour news cycle plus the profit motive keeps media hunting for new news that shocks and gets people to pay attention. Bad news excites people, keeps them watching. Hearing that everything is fine makes folks ignore the media. My local tv stations' 11 PM broadcasts are straight from a police blotter and not just the local blotter...from all over my large state and a couple of nearby states too. It's only broken up by weather forecasts and sports stories. It's no wonder people believe this country is headed in the wrong direction.
