Although I also love Pete, no, I don't think that he was ready for the big chair. My point was that he and others high in the polls set aside their personal ambitions. Of course, a brokered convention could be messy, but from what I've been reading, campaign funding may be a bigger issue.

So letтАЩs say he drops out. I donтАЩt think he will but letтАЩs say he does. I think we are hosed. First, the convention will be a shitshow. There will be massive protests against Israel. Why because these voters have their absolute BEST chance to get the next president to do something different. Maybe it works maybe it doesnтАЩt but it will be crazy and look awful for Dems. Second, after the shitshow of the convention they choose a president and Vp. Whoever they choose has 3 major things working against them.
(1) most importantly no name ID. No matter how much of a junkie you are for politics most people wonтАЩt know ANYTHING about these candidates. I love politics but I couldnтАЩt point out some of the тАЬgoodтАЭ candidates in a lineup. More importantly, I have no idea where they stand on any of the major issues people will be voting on. Shoot even with my own governor, Gavin, I donтАЩt know what he would do with Ukraine, Israel, climate, homelessness, guns, etc.
(2) no team. None of these people, other than Kamala has a presidential campaign team. None have run a national election.
(3) no money. They donтАЩt just get Joe BidenтАЩs money. Combine the 2 other above points you are in real trouble.
This is not to say it WONT work but people, I find, skip over how absolutely painful and potentially disastrous this could be. Not only that all the main contenders poll WORSE than Biden against Trump. Maybe that changes but it isnтАЩt obvious why.
'Shoot even with my own governor, Gavin, I donтАЩt know what he would do with Ukraine, Israel, climate, homelessness, guns, etc.' - LOL, I'm sure you want to know but I think most Americans just want their President to make them 'feel good.'
No no no Suzanne. My President needs to solve all my problems. In fact, if I have a problem itтАЩs the presidents fault for not fixing it. AND if he does fix it I have a few other problems for him to solve ;-)
Years ago, I was hanging out with a younger friend, 20-something at the time, and some guy approached us for money with a sad story about his cousin or brother or someone running off with his wife, and after he shuffled along, she said to me plaintively, 'What president is going to save us?' I said none, and something to the effect of preventing personal problems is not any president's job. She seemed to get it at the time, but she is a Trumper now :-(
My brother is in town. We are from a big family (IтАЩm one of 8) so we were down at my stepmomтАЩs place for a pool day last weekend. She had Fox News on both tvтАЩs at full volume. She went on about how the trials were political malpractice. ItтАЩs my 3 sisters and 4 brothers along with like 12 nephews and nieces and we just are like тАЬyeah yeah yeah. Totally. Then shuffled outside.тАЭ Her dog is namedтАжTucker.
