Joe Biden has brought us what we needed; a stable, functioning government without the chaos and lunacy of prior years. He has a speech impediment and I think he is aging well. I don’t care if he runs in 2024 because I will vote for whoever Democrat is on the ballot. The only way to heal the Republican Party is to defeat them soundly in the elections and send the message that we cannot tolerate far right extremism in our Democracy. The Democratic Party at this point stands for stability and decency and that’s what I hope most people want in their representatives.
I think that the only way to heal the right is to have a plurality of republicans, like the former mayor referenced in today’s column, stand up. Even then, the party is just so thoroughly rotted out that I’m not sure it can recover.
Honestly, I don't think the Party of Lincoln is salvageable. It is now the Cult of the Orange and will remain so, whether he retains control of the party or not. Arguably, this should have happened sooner, but the movement conservatives had managed to effectively suppress the nationalist, isolationists, and to a lesser extent bigots' for so long but Trump broke their sway so thoroughly that even people like Rubio are now in essence Trumpets. We need a loyal opposition party, but until Romney, and Cheney, and Sasse, and similar break with the current party, that won't happen
2028 (and honestly probably more 2032) is the absolute earliest to see a Republican in the WH again, and ideally one of the Larry Hogan mold. The problem of course is odds are Larry Hogan won't even be able to be a Republican anymore in that timeframe
At 71, I don't ride a bike anymore. And someone wants to see a person who walks stiffly, I do a better approximation of that than Biden. Centuries ago at our Constitutional Convention, Ben Franklin had to be carried around in a sedan chair - but his mind was still good.

Maybe a sport ute chair for Joe?
