It's a small point, because the big picture is too depressing, but I am so tired of the "our kids are never going to forgive us" line about spending, which is so old that we are starting to get the great grandkids of the people about whom it was first spoken (while the economy is massively larger).

No, what our kids won't forgive us for is allowing our democracy to collapse, and by indicating she would support the career criminal, haley is guilty as charged for the real crime against our kids (as, of course, are the rest of the clowns).
Our kids will never forgive us for global warming, for feeding a political economy of constant greed masquerading as constant “progress” — putting the planet on a doomloop to catastrophe.
I'd say our kids are more likely to not forgive us for ruining the one damn planet we have, as opposed to running up the debt. The debt won't mean diddly squat, if half the planet is unliveable.
That's at least ten problems downs on the list of things I won't forgive my parents for. After electing an idiot responsible for millions of COVID deaths, stripping me of the right to a safe pregnancy, driving vehicles that get like 13 mpg, my student loan debt, shredding the social safety net for families, actually giving me COVID last Thanksgiving because vaccines are scary, tacitly supporting the slaughter genocide by both China and Russia, Car-dependent cities, the lack of affordable housing, and just the general guilt tripping about spending Christmas at their place.
But yeah, I'm not thrilled about their decision to add to the Iraq war to the tab and stick me with the bill.
I can remember when I was a kid and I was worried about acid rain and smog and general air pollution. I remember the first time I approached the Los Angeles area by car, and the reddish-brown colored cloud that just hung over the middle of the area at all times once.
There’s a lot of room to question the side effects of our industrialization and what not. But we usually manage to do something about it.
That said, I’m pessimistic on whether we’ll actually manage to eliminate fossil fuel use. The long term facets of it aren’t the major economic powers now, it’s the third world nations for whom that’s their quickest way out of poverty. It’s hard to push the whole “your kids will have a miserable life if you do!” argument onto people who can bluntly answer, “our kids are going to starve to death now if we don’t!” The whole frame of reference just kinda changes there.
I think a combination of cheaper, scalable, and exportable green energy and some sort of CO2 capture tech is likely to be our way out of it. The latter will likely be bigger than the former. That said, I’m also skeptical that climate change is going to result in a complete extinction event for human civilization, too. We might not like a warmer world, but we’ll survive in it.
Yep - she has kids. She kept harping on about them in her ads when she was running against Trump and said “Trump is everything you teach your kids not to be”. Lol 😂

Catie, England is still paying off debt from the Napoleanic Wars. No big deal and you don't hear present Englanders complaining about it !
Michael, exactly!
The debt is made up. The planet is quite real.
Right- what was she suggesting the government do in response to COVID?

That's quite the list. Sorry!
Does Haley have kids? You know what my kids won't forgive? Anthropogenic global warming. Forever chemicals. I have evidence for this claim.
Came here to either find or post this comment.

We have certainly heard this from our son and his wife. How we failed on man-made climate change.
That's my daughter's take.

Excellent point.
So I hear from my three adult children.
