I love his acting work- if he is in a movie, I watch it. But to learn about his multitudes, was eye-opening. I ordered his book immediately after this interview.
And if no one has seen Cop Shop or Sword of Trust, please do. The former, Mr. Huss plays a truly deranged person with gusto. The latter he is more low key in his sinisterness.
Sword of Trust, starring a murder's row of talent, with Marc Maron the central character and directed by the late, great Lynn Shelton, is a must watch in these times. Or any time.
Thanks Sonny. Also, your tongue-tiedness is charming.
I just happen to be watching Carnivàle over the past couple of weeks. I had never seen it before. Toby Huss’s acting is definitely one of the best parts of the show for me.
Love this interview! My intro to all things Toby. To me, listening to a discussion on all things art is like breathing pure oxygen. A lovely diversion from the shit politics.
Carnivale season 2 was the most trippy season of a show ever. Season one was too slow, but 2 was a masterpiece. Was really bummed there was no season 3.
Like Sonny, I became a fan of Toby Huss thanks to his character of "Artie, the strongest man in the world". Through the years I always am psyched whenever he appears in a supporting role of a movie or show. Thanks for giving us this spotlight on one of my favorite character actors.
Great podcast: Toby Huss is a true GET.

Oh man, “Carnivale” is so good. One of those shows that kind of got lost amidst all the other brilliant stuff HBO was doing.

Don't forget Toby in Bedazzled.
and... Halt and Catch Fire.

I had Bedazzled on my “random roles” sheet but we kinda ran out of time. It’s a fun one though!

The world needs S3 of 'The Adventures of Pete and Pete' in a physical format!
PS: I actually subscribed to The Bulwark so that I could comment on Toby's appearance on BGTH.
Haha, good to know!
