Amazon has a "last mile" contract with usps so they drop their packages at local post offices for delivery. Though sometimes my rural area has Amazon trucks deliver and i haven't figured out the difference. My carrier says his route is two hours longer daily with Amazon , with no extra pay.

Okay; I’ve heard that phrase “last mile”. I’ve also seen the Amazon trucks when I go to the big city - once it was a steady stream, so I must have been near a transfer point.

That’s terrible about the unpaid work! How is that legal?

I get my mail delivered to a UPS Store. It seems like the bulk of their business is Amazon returns. They have the process down, with QR codes. The whole process takes less than a minute.
