Just keep spinning, Ms Jean-Pierre. You are securing a place in no party—a place better known as irrelevance and the dust bin of history. I cheered your selection as press secretary. Just read your interview with Isaac Chotiner. Added to this one you leave me with nothing to say except: buh-by.

This was weirdly stressful to watch.

The title of this podcast should have been Karine Jean-Pierre talks at Tim with lots of spin. I tried to get through the whole thing, but after 4 days of stopping and restarting the podcast I threw in the towel.

I'm glad this wasn't a drinking game around the phrase "I can't speak to that". Also, she says she wants a "people focused" movement that, apparently, consists only of identity labels. KJP demonstrated two flaws in 2024 Dem world. First is loyalty matters more than the truth. (Not even an obligatory, "Mistakes were made and let me tell them". You know, like a "tell all" books are supposed to do). Secondly, as mentioned, apparently the Dem Party (to which I belong) is not made up of people, buy labels and that matters over everything else. And as someone who feels like a political ally to the BIPOC & LGBT community--Dems put a lot of capital into gay marriage and the civil rights. Rightfully so, but not without losing the South or arguably losing the presidency in 2004. So I have to laugh a bit, but more annoyed, when KJP, who reached the highest level of power in this country, complains that she identify group didn't get their just desserts. And her rhetorical dance she played during the entire interview just says volumes about what I think she really thinks about the truth. Because--sorry--but she can't handle the truth.

I'm a little surprised by the comments. I thought she did a great job of reminding us all what we were saying and thinking back in 2022-23. She's right - we were thrilled at the lack of a red wave. We won the Senate! Biden was passing bills, the economy was recovering from the pandemic. It was only later in 2023 and into 2024 when inflation stayed (relatively) high that Biden's approval rating dropped and stayed below 40.

In any case trying to hold one of the youngest and newest members of the Biden team responsible for his decision to run again makes no sense.

Her critique of the Democratic Party (and the party system) is more interesting and more relevant to the current situation anyway. She's a welcome fresh voice.

I think KJP did and continues to do what many or most press secretaries do. They try to make the president look good and won’t be analytical about problems. She’s still spinning.

And I don’t understand how she thinks leaving the Democratic party will help give voice to anyone. Outside the party as an independent it will be difficult to be heard at all. It seems like it would make more sense to stay inside the party. Fighting from inside seems to be a much better strategy. But, it probably won’t matter because she would just keep spinning and would not help solve party problems so we can win the presidency again.

I won’t read her book. I think it would be a waste of my time. Sorry.

She wasn’t even convincing back as Press Secretary. Much less so now. Just go away please 🙏

These rationalizations and justifications were pitiful. When someone who spent their personal capital enabling a fraud on their (Democratic) party's voters then turns around, in the long dark shadow of that betrayal, and says, "I'm leaving that party because it's throwing people like me under the bus" you have to wonder about their commitment to the voters to begin with.

It's nihilism and cognitive dissonance coded in solidarity. If Ms. Jean-Pierre was really committed to the voters and her compatriots she would have walked months ago and blown the whistle on Biden's manifest cognitive decline and that family's egocentrism being more important to that administration than to the rest of us are.

FFS This was so annoying to listen to. I’m not sure who was worse, Tim interrupting her constant BS excuses or her interrupting his interruptions! It pissed me off and I feel the need to vent that!

Tim, I generally really love your interviews and would encourage you to rewatch this one. The amount of interrupting and talking over Karen you did was remarkable. Mostly because you are usually much more respectful to you guests.

Tim is spot on, people are mad at the FECKLESS corporate Clinton Democrats for not FIGHTING the obstructionist, criminal and corrupt GOP. For example, her point about "vulnerable parties" supports Tim's argument because the Clinton Democrats did not FIGHT for any of the GOP targets, such as in not supporting DEI programs that did NOT disadvantage white males but did focus on providing a welcoming workplace and equal opportunity.

I remember when Affirmative Action was implemented and white men whined about the low quality of blacks being forced upon businesses. I heard it first hand and it wasn't true because all of my black coworkers earned the same electrical engineering degree that I did. We need progressive Democrats, in the fighting images of FDR and Teddy, to replace the FECKLESS corporate Clinton Democrats or it is over.

That was a tough one, Tim. Thanks for pushing back. What a terrible interview, she sounded like she was still at the podium. So inauthentic.

Her continuing to carry water for Biden invalidates all of her other arguments. Hard to say that people need to have courage and fight when you go run behind talking points and noncommittal disclaimers about Biden. Yawn. Maybe better for her to do something else rather than writing this book.

Nice job by Tim though!

Wow how could you stand her bullshit? Anything remotely critical about Biden? “I can't speak to that-I didn't experience that.” Everything else- spin in favor of Biden and speak in generalities/abstract.

Why did she bother to become an independent if she is still going to shill for the last Democratic president so shamelessly. I mean, I thought we were going to get a no holds barred honest conversation and not hear a press secretary spin. We got the spin. Just be real.

Ms. Jean-Pierre is completely out of touch with reality. It was difficult to listen to this all the way to the end. Thank you Tim for pressing her despite her non-existent awareness of our experience of Biden’s public absences.
