Yup. Hegseth is another one of Trump's middle-school boys masquerading as a man and showing off his new toy -- the DOD. "Look at my new toy! See all the things I can do with it!"
One of many reasons I have less than zero sympathy for John Roberts (one of the few times in which I am crotchetier than JVL :). That mfer has been against voting rights since college, oh, and gave an openly dictatorial, leering, swaying, sweating id blanket immunity. Little late to "fear for our democracy," Mr. Chief "Justice."
With respect to Sen. Booker within minutes after he was done I was pitched for money. As a result I now respond to every text or email from anyone connected to the democrats. Either “Stop” or “Unsubscribe”. Come on Dems. Fight. Show effort. Stand up before asking me for my money for you all to do nothing but act to raise contributions.
I have been watching Nicolle since she came to MSNBC. I really admire you guys. Thanks for what you're doing. Please notice what Daniel has been observing. He's publishing every day. I read Daniel, I read Heather Cox Richardson, I read The Bulwark. Today's essay from Daniel explains Trump's current actions as a coherent strategy rather than incompetence.
Thank you for this link to an excellent essay. The billionaire tech bros taking advantage of Trump's stupidity makes much more sense than seeing this as transient chaos that will straighten itself out if we just wait long enough.
I posted this in the comments of yesterday's Bulwark Pod, re-posting here:
Jamie Raskin gave a very impassioned speech to the Judiciary Committee, I believe, about the deportations to El Salvador, and the attacks on the Judiciary. He called, among other things, on the committee to demand the return of all of the people unlawfully deported to El Salvador. Here is a link to it on youtube, from the "Forbes Breaking News" channel. But you can search "Jamie Raskin speech" and you get to it, and some other very good speeches he has made in recent days in that committee.
After watching a few of his statements of recent days in that committee I think we can say his speeches are very powerful, emotional, and effective, and should be elevated and shared.
He happens to be my congressman, and I feel very happy to hear him speaking out with such force.
Thank you for posting. That guy not only knows what he's talking about as a consititional law professor, but his personal story (not the least of which includes his son commiting suicide; he's also a cancer survivor) truly impacts his decision making. If congress we're full of knowledgable, dedicated, empathetic people like Jamie Raskin our government would run the way it was intended.
Thanks, Tim! I got emotional (yes, cried) at the end of Booker's marathon speech. Stunt or no, fundraising appeals immediately after, whatever, I am SO GLAD that some Dems are getting out there trying stuff. And 25 hours - that was quite a feat. Next up, April 5!
In the two Florida Congressional elections in heavily Republican Districts, the Republican margin of victory was cut in half. By about 15 points in both races. Extrapolate that out and around 65 current Republican House members in more purple districts are in serious trouble. That's going to start weighing on them day by day going forward
A fundraising text from Cory Booker went out less than 2 hours after Cory Booker finished. While it was great to see someone do something, and I liked that other senators brought things up during their questions, I am now left with a Jerry Lewis Fundraiser vibe rather than a political statement against the Trump/Musk administration.
I agree and similarly got several fundraising texts and emails for Cory Booker during and after the speech. None of them came directly from Cory. I contribute a small amount monthly to his reelection as I am a constituent and very proud of him and Andy Kim. But all this fundraising attention really annoys me too. I realize that the Dems have to do something, but I'm not sure clogging our inboxes and phones is the answer!
Great job Tim! Thank you!
Tim and all. Please see Rachel's interview with David Kessler MD tonight. Really important and frightening!,,

It seems to me that Congress bears some responsibility for Hegseth. They did, after all, confirm him. Even in the face of so many reasons NOT TO.

Great show as always Tim.
Trump is putting a 54% Tariff on Sri Lanka .....that will open the Steel Mills in Youngstown quicker that you can say Make America Great Again, Again

Maybe Tim and Daniel can talk on The Bulwark!

Nicole Wallace is the natural centerpiece for BulwarkTV when it happens.
I don't want to be all like "stop moving to Portland, people!" but...eeeeugh, popularity beyond a critical point almost always makes things worse.
I love to see you on Deadline. Would love to see her on your podcast. She’s a great interview. Very smart, funny and off colour in a good way.
Try stuff is great advice for all sorts of things, especially this. No one knows which way the zeitgeist is going to break.
Huge respect for Booker on this!
I long for the good ole days when all we had to worry about was the Iranian Drone Invasion of New Jersey

“even if you campaigned on doing something unconstitutional… that doesn’t make it constitutional” Amen

You’re lucky to have Raskin. I met him a few years ago and the guy is real!

Plus, it diverted attention from Tariffer in Chief for a little while, with information that is actually useful, which is worth something.
400 million likes on tiktok ??
Thanks Tim, always enjoy your take on things.

I get it. I'm tapped out by 30 fundraising emails a day but. It's going take alot of Ben Franklins to get rid of Musk and his "salute"
