Gavin Newsom suing Fox is nothing but a publicity stunt. He can’t win, and likely won’t spend any real money pursuing this. He is trying to present himself as a leader and a fighter ahead of the 2028 elections. But it falls flat.
Dems (or more accurately, the DOJ) went after Trump after 2020 for crimes he committed. Private citizens went after Trump and Fox for lies they told (E Jean Carrol and Dominion etc).
Trump suing private citizens and media corporations is simply low, stupid and bullying. Dems doing the same thing diminishes them and removes any high ground they had after Jan 6. If Gavin ever figures this out (his political instincts are pretty bad), he will quietly abandon this tactic.
As for the Trump flirting with the Lindell TC “reporter”, just ick. That is a dead horse that I don’t think anyone but Trump still beats. Let him wear himself out on this if he wants to. If his DOJ is focusing on this nonsense, they will have fewer resources to persecute immigrants.
I completely agree with Tim’s mixed emotion and opinion on the Gavin suing over this. I like that Gavin is going after Fox for promoting the president Mistruth, however, there’s some gray area here because of the subtle timing and the fact that the phone call exist between President Trump and Gavin Newsom is just outside of the timeline but it’s also about how it was. Discussed what was discussed wasn’t discussed. Of course press Trump is acting like he got the go-ahead from Gavin Newsom to mobilize the National Guard within California. What she did not do he basically had to blame in bitch fastest with Gavin did not get his cooperation or permission to mobilize National Guard within California, then went ahead and sent themin this performance theater. I think attacking the financial incentives for the right wing grift is absolutely a great way to fight back. Holding news organizations accountable for accuracy isn’t against free speech, and should have been done to Fox 15 years ago.
