The Trump junior thing is actually normal on Canada. For example, Doug Ford’s former political staffer runs a “lobbying” firm that “helps” companies get money from the province’s buttload of subsidies. He’s gotten rich off the grift.

Why do you hem and haw, rather than discuss Trump's obvious mental decline? Every time he opens his mouth he demonstrates clear signs of dementia yet his words are selectively addressed as if it was entirely sane. Why aren't you making fun of his 2028 claims, noting that at 79 and in obvious mental decline, in reality, that ain't gonna happen?

I disagree with your characterization of the Supreme Court as "conservative." They're Trump's allies in overthrowing the U.S. Constitution. That sounds pretty revolutionary to me. Revolutions aren't always progressive — i.e. The Council of Vienna, Hitler.

JVL wrote an article a few months ago explaining how the definition of "conservative" has changed radically in the last decade or 2. His attitude was "get over it." But I for one cannot, as long as both old and new definitions continue to be used, leaving it to the reader to infer which one from the context. "Fascist" is certainly much more accurate when describing the MAGA cult, but it too has broad and narrow definitions that the cult loves to bait-and-switch to pretend that they're not "fascists." So I compromise with "authoritarian." It may not have as evil a connotation I would prefer, but it's much harder for MAGAs to pretend that they are anything but that.

Anyone else remember all those incensed, screaming, ranting, ready to lynch, R attacks on Hunter? I guess his mistake was not having the surname "Trump".

Somehow I completely forgot. (Correction, I meant to say: Several thousand prominent "Republicans" and I have completely forgotten to be outraged about Hunter's shenanigans.

Why aren’t the Democrats in Congress maintaining an ongoing list of impeachable offenses being committed by Trump? They can hold their own regular hearings and briefings. There are two discussed here: Trump conflict of interest and the abuse of the tariff power. Such a list might encourage Democratic turnout at the polls.

It is a very long list, which I believe is being chronicled by The Unpopulist Substack, as well as others, I have no doubt.

Impeachment is futile. They can't get 67 votes in the Senate no matter what Trump does.

That is not a reason not to continuously remind the country what he has been doing. The silence of the Democrats has been deafening.

Impeachment is a white whale for Democrats. Remind people? There are better ways to remind people. In fact he himself is really good at reminding people how awful he is.

Need the House first - that requires a mere majority, which they don't have.

We took a summer camping trip up to British Columbia this summer. Such a beautiful place, populated by really good people. I've been a frequent visitor to Canada, and used to do some consulting work there.

We spent a lot of time apologizing. They all said no worries, we know it isn't you.

I am sure those who went to Canada, and I know a couple, after GWB fiascos, are laughing now.

As far as farmers, ranchers, federal workers, and Latinos for trump, I envision a chicken voting for Colonel Sanders and after the Colonel wins, the chicken wonders why all has gone so terribly wrong in its life... They asked for it, they got it and they can live with it. My empathy meter is at a low right now.s.

Has Everett Kelly of the AFGE lost his mind? This isn't about "each party making its point," it's about saving health care for millions of Americans. If he really wants the Democrats, who have been at work all along, to give in to the Republicans, who've been AWOL on orders of their leader, without any further negotiation and no compromise from Republicans or the WH, i'd say he's either lost it altogether, or he's been bought.

I think Kelly has just been doing his job, which is trying to save the employment opportunity for thousands of federal government workers.

In forefront of the photo above is a model 747. What is interesting is the plane is not in Air Force One livery--it appears to be in Trump's personal livery. Trump doesn't own a 747--if memory serves, his personal plane is a 757. The logical explanation is that this is what the infamous Qatari 747 given, ostensibly, to the US for use as AF1 will ultimately look like. Meaning: Trump hasn't ever intended it for use as AF1, and he's milking the US for $1BN in upgrades to the plane. Either that, or Trump plans to change AF1 livery to match his personal livery. Take your pick.

"...the complete demolition of all guardrails around presidential action..." This is the perfect, and perfectly terrifying, state in which we live, which was expressed in the most literal way by the demolition of the East Wing. Trumphole's middle finger to Americans, as he goes about destroying whatever he likes, grabbing money and power illegally, without a peep from Congress or SCOTUS. How long can we live in this degraded reality?

"Trumphole", -- is this a portmanteau of the wonderful "Rumpole" series starring the incomparable Leo McKern?? Or was it something else altogether?

Regardless of your intended reference, it sums up what the Frenchies might refer to as "l'essence de Trompe".

Not the wonderful "Rumpole" series...non, non, non.

Mais oui, "l'essence du Trompe," in the sense of cheating and deceiving.

Also, an obvious vulgar substitution in English.

We need a massive campaign hitting Trump & his flackies on corruption again & again & again.

And Dems better pick up the torch from Ontario and start using video clips of Reagan's speech on Tariffs in ads & messaging -- plus anything else Reagan said that is a clear critique of Trump's administration policies. Hit him where it hurts--he stole Reagan's MAGA slogan but almost nothing else.

Care and rachmones would suggest opening the government. That is now in the hands of the Democrats. But damn them if they capitulate as The Felon and his minions will label them as weak and caving rather than caring. This is hard ball, and the Democrats must hold strong.

The Supreme Court is not super conservative, but a radical right wing court that respects neither the Constitution nor democracy. Scott Bessent is not a “hapless” Treasury Secretary, but a corrupt participant in this administration. As far as the farmers, they will still vote Republican, so if they want someone to blame for their financial woes, look in the mirror.
