The most mentally ill president in the history of the republic, is now crippling mental health and substance abuse services. God I'm so tired of up=down, good=bad, and critical thinking is a fag's criticism of dear leader.

Unbelievable! I survived the SAMHSA reduction in force that happened on April 1st by joining the SAMHSA funded Prevention Technology Transfer Center in September to continue the good work that I was doing while I was with SAMHSA, only to be fired again today. I can say with all honesty, as much as we didn’t like it, we were aligned with the administration priorities. That statement in their letter is an absolute lie and devastating to all those who do this selfless work for the greater good of our communities.

Is it just me? Or is this article no longer available?

Jonathan, Thanks for the reporting on this important issue. Of course they're cutting funding for drug addiction help, do you really think this administration cares about people dying of drug related deaths? Hell, the problem could have been avoided, but RFK beat the odds. Anyway, they need more money for ICE, so they can kill people faster.

More than 4000 grants were cut, including eliminating the ENTIRE National Child Traumatic Stress Network (www.nctns.org) which provides treatment for children and teens impacted by traumatic events and improves the quality of treatment for these children in red and blue states across the US. What are SAMHSA's priorities and how are these grants not aligned with them?

The Trump Administration has been fighting drug addiction by blowing up small boats in international waters. The only way this administration knows how to solve problems is by using military-style force. They captured Maduro; that means they stopped the flow of all drugs into this country — or that Trump is now taking over the drug trade.

They are like Nazis. Anyone who has a mental health problem, an addiction, or any kind of disability is not worthy of being an American.

And anyway, most of the successful programs started under the Biden Administration. Everything he did must be canceled.

Wait, I thought that the gun violence problem was really a problem of mental health rather than guns. So Republicans are addressing this mental health crisis by cutting funding for mental health and substance abuse care? I'm shocked... shocked! /s

I know - so weird! /s

The sub headline reads such that the cuts had bipartisan support, but nowhere in the article is that substantiated. I assume you meant the agency had bipartisan support.

Good God, another article that raised my blood pressure 10 more points. This move is insane, which takes some doing since it deals with mental health. Once again, there is no rationale, except for, I guess, the cruelty. I am very familiar with a lot of these types of programs and they most certainly address SAMSHA targeted goals for substance abuse. This will definitely hit the MAGA base. Unfortunately we can't fix stupid and so the dots won't be connected.
