Tim Miller breaks down the political and legal implications of Donald Trump’s Justice Department agreeing to pay nearly $5 million to the family of Ashli Babbitt, the woman fatally shot by police during the January 6 Capitol riot.
Regarding that the insurrectionists were triggered by the BLM movement, that may be true because these people cannot bring themselves to accept that black lives do matter. These people were triggered to destroy our inclusive liberal society to replace it with an apartheid fascism led by approved oligarchs of the right mindset.
I am thankful to Congressman Adriano Espaillat of New York ( fb.watch/zI5CW0ROgl/ ) and other lawmakers who took the opportunity presented by "Police Week," last week to draw attention to this issue again.
Unsurprisingly, I never heard back from my Congresswoman, Republican Jen Kiggans. For those who need a template for their own letter or phone call, requesting the plaque be hung in accordance with the law, I'm shaing the letter I wrote Congresswoman Kiggans this morning to follow-up on my initial request.
I hate to sound cynical but 40% of the electorate support this. And that won't change because, as Tim said, it is totally tribalism and demonization of the other side.
I agree it is outrageous. Being outraged is exactly what they want. It is so infuriating that this guy has gotten away with it. How does sanity regain power.
I have sadness and compassion for Ashly Babbitt. She clearly had an unbalanced view of what she was involved in culminating on Jan. 6th. Beside probably having some kind of Dissociative mental condition that tends not to fit into mainstream social behavior or views. In the end she was violently breaking the law and an Officer who has sworn to protect the Capital and the members of Congress within applied the procedures that he had been rigorously trained for. After assessing that someone was penetrating the last physical barrier between a mob and those he had sworn as well as been rigorously trained to protect, exercised his oath and training which sadly ended in the loss of Ashley Babbitt's life. For him not to have exercised his duty would have been the equivalent of my self, as a former airline pilot, ignoring an engine fire/failure warning and not executing the required procedures that I had been rigorously trained as well as regularly tested for my proficiency in applying them.
With all the people being hurt by the movement she fervently supported, I have no sympathy left over for a crazed woman who was vandalizing the People's House with the explicit intent to cause physical harm to lawmakers within. These extremists are the enemies of democracy, freedom, rationality -- and yes, many of us as individuals as well. They wouldn't pee on us if we were on fire. It's not hateful to be clear about that; it's the reality we are facing. Don't waste your time feeling sad about her. She made her bed and now she's lying in it (six feet under).
Oklahoma has added the Big Lie to its social studies school curriculum. Students to study and identify discrepancies in election results. Hopes for restoration of sanity in America dim.

As Babbit’s blood is on Trump**’s hands, he should pay the blood money.
Absolutely shameful. We are so far down the rabbit hole I’m not sure we can get out.
Given the news on the Ashli Babbitt settlement, I decided to follow up on whether or not the plaque honoring the Capitol police who defended the Capitol on January 6th had ever been hung. My second article on Substack was an attempt to rally people to write their representatives to put pressure on Speaker Johnson to hang the plaque (https://open.substack.com/pub/gregflo/p/lets-get-the-jan-6th-plaque-placed?r=12fx35&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web&showWelcomeOnShare=false ).

The Officer’s shot placement was impeccable. He neutralized the threat almost immediately.
The MAGA horde on X is calling for the cop who shot her to be charged. Sick.
Can the union of Capitol Police officers file a defamation suit against Trump?
They can pay $5 humptibillion and the criminal bitch is still dead.
Treasoning is no joke, Ash. Poor you.

This is the start of "reparations" for J6ers
There is blood on Trump’s hands.
Grotesque is the word describing this. But then I can use it to describe just about anything in the Trump administration.

This payment is so very, very wrong.
