Comer and Jordan spent two years and a lot of tax payer’s money investigating Joe Biden’s son from accepting money from foreign countries. They found nothing so they went to impeach Biden for using his office as Vice President to help his son. They found nothing. Now we have the President accepting a bribe, no, a gift from Qatar, and that is perfect and usual. And the Republicans have their head in the sand past their shoulders. What gutless wonders!

Is there one shred of evidence to back up your assertion that Biden‘s family was criminal? I haven’t seen it. If you have it, please produce it. Certainly calmer over two years, couldn’t produce it. Then tie Joe Biden into it and maybe we can all stop laughing at you or you can stop ruining the country.

Truly, the cranks and kooks of right-wing media would be discussing it at or near the top of their broadcasts for years...and for once, they'd actually be justified.

The only good thing about this is he’s talking about when he leaves office. Which means he can envision leaving office. But the plane itself is beyond unbelievable - the Constitution is completely clear about accepting gifts (emoluments) from foreigners. It’s on the level of the Great Lie - a lie so big nobody can believe it’s a lie. But the thing is de facto unconstitutional, period.

Where are the other two branches to offer a check? Nowhere.

When the news on the plane first came out, I read somewhere that one thing the Qataris wanted was to have the sanctions on Syria removed. Today, I read that has been done. Quid pro quo, anyone?

The Qatari jet is such scabrous corruption but John Cornyn doesn't know what it is? What the fuck are we paying him for?

Cornyn is being obliterated by Paxton in the Senate Republican primary. It is as simple as that.

Best account I’ve read of Trump’s latest corrupt move. Must be very hard to keep writing about his assaults on the country day in and day out. I especially enjoyed your wry footnotes. Re: the security angle, I’d just add that maybe it doesn’t matter anymore— why worry about secure communication for AF1 when we have group chat?

A few comments...

1) Welcome back!

2) When I first heard about the Qatar plane deal, I also wondered how it would be “free” since it seemed to me that they would have to do extensive renovations on the plane to bring it up to Air Force One standards. And it would also seem to be a concern that they would never be able to really do that since the plane hadn’t been under their control the whole time. But it just shows that Trump (again) doesn’t care about stuff like national security. He’s more concerned with gold fixtures.

3) It has long been held that the more outlandish some conspiracy theory is, the easier it is to convince people that it’s true (see Goebbels, Joseph). So here we have a parallel. Maybe it’s easier to convince people that some act isn’t corrupt when it so brazenly and clearly is. Only time will tell.

4) “Years of fruitless investigations into former President Joe Biden’s family members about supposed profiting from government influence vanished from public view overnight”. There are two reasons that this is true

a) They never found any evidence

b) Biden decided not to run again. My belief is that if he had, Comer and Co. would have continued to flog the “Biden crime family” story. There just wasn’t much point in doing it after Biden bowed out. Look at the Benghazi investigation. At first, they laid the blame at Obama’s feet because he was running against Romney. They when Obama won reelection, the Reps shifted their focus to Clinton because she was viewed as the most likely nominee. They never cared about finding out the truth – they just wanted some scalps.

5) Never apologize for a good pun.

This is conflict of interest, corruption, and self-dealing raised to neutron bomb powers. If our Republican friends in Congress don't see this, we're pretty deep in the mud (an understatement). The question is are we in so deep that it's too late to get out?

One obvious corollary to this, given that Trump is conning the press by claiming it’s a gift to the country, not to him, is that when he leaves, taking the plane with him, the country will have to buy a new one.

Shouldn’t this seem like an obvious follow-up?

Welcome back, Joe!

Paxton is spitting nails that Bondi was picked for AG over him. But she is Lawyer Barbie who accepts the same bribes from the same Qataris. It was a no-brainer for The President.

But Two Face was made to believe that he had a plum position in DC, and he's gonna get there, no matter what. Cornyn is easier than a hooker whose rent is due tomorrow, according to Paxton.

Anyway girl, the hoes are fighting, and Beto is working bigger and bigger crowds of a couple thousand in rural and suburban Texas. I want him to run against Cornyn if Paxton primaries him.

Blood in the water. So-to-speak.

Congrats on getting hitched! We're glad you're back!

Other than the blatant corruption, the fact that the plane wouldn't be ready for actual use for quite some time, the cost to render it suitable for civilian use at the end of the term, and the potential security risks from this plane - I don't see any problem with this "free plane." UGH. But anyway, welcome back Joe P.
