Several even literally abandoned the House and went to New York to rally around the multiple convicted felon, and now they control both houses of Congress. And the hard right majority of the Supreme Court essentially bequeathed lifetime immunity to him regardless of the consistency and egregiousness of his criminal conduct.
Finally, Lord knows what shenanigans he and his coconspirators must have pulled to convince him to be sanguine about his chances of "winning" last year's election despite his horrific performance in his first term and a campaign that consisted almost entirely of school yard taunts of his opponent.
