ā€œIf I happen to be president and I see somebody who’s doing well and beating me very badly, I say, ā€˜Go down and indict them.’ They’d be out of business. They’d be out of the election.ā€ I haven't seen anybody mention this comment. Why would Trump be involved in an election during a second term? He's saying the quiet part out loud. He doesn't plan to leave office if he gets back in.

Can't recommend enough two of the pieces highlighted here today, the one on Peter Theil by The Atlantic and the one by Will Selber in The Bulwark today. Read the Peter Theil piece first, because you'll get to see just how little the decadently rich are willing to give up for this country and then you'll get to contrast that with just how much tens of thousands of veterans--who aren't decadently rich--are willing to give up for the country. It's a sharp contrast in decadent individualism versus committed service to something bigger than one's self. There's a real reason Thomas Jefferson noted that "the merchant has no country," and the (quite literally) bloodsucking vampires like Peter Theil are exactly why (he harvests blood from 15-year-olds because he thinks it leads to longer lifespans).
