Very close to the coast of Venezuela, for instance, are Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao, who surely need flights through "Venezuelan airspace" for their economic survival... and lots of boats go back and forth to the V. coast with tourists, businesspeople, families visiting, South American produce, fishers, divers...are these now in danger?

"Not everything Trump posts on Truth Social is official U.S. policy."

Wait what? Why is anything on Truth Social official U.S. policy? Surely there are many other better ways to announce policy than on the least popular social media site (or any social media, for that matter). We as a nation need to quit thinking that this is appropriate.

"They help the military recruit people who aren’t violent monsters." Except in our current situation, where the right has seated a weekend newscaster who is a violent monster at the head of America's military. I'm worried for us.

The overall aim of Trump's interventionist moves - threats to Brazil, Venezuela and Honduras, the bail-out of Argentina is the conversion of all South America countries into vassal states within a US-dominated sphere of influence - mirroring similar ambitions of Russia and China. The goal is universal installation of dictators beholden to him. That perspective makes awful sense of otherwise perplexing strategies.

MAGA has folie à deux with Trump. They go all in on every action he announces then forget about it right along with him and proceed to accuse those of us who haven’t joined him in his selective amnesia of having TDS.

OKay, feelings. In the ' 16 election the results did not truly upset me, more like a needle in

a boney area, on J 06, I'll admit tears kept leaking out for over 24 hours, before I got angry

Now, why feel ? just watch, wait. vote. I had a little breakout in early June, I ' out of the

blue ' yelled at my brother , in a restaurant, out nation is GONE. so, call me emotional, over-sensitve, name-calling is so fun. I took these things to heart, now my heart is hardened, self-preservation.

"If the American military is shooting Venezuelan survivors of American attacks at sea, as the Washington Post reports, do you think our soldiers will be treated properly if they wound up in the hands of the Venezuelan military?"

I guess I'm failing to see why there is a distinction here for killing the survivors of the attacks on the boats. The attacks on the boats themselves are extrajudicial in the first place, i.e. war crimes. This whole operation around Venezuela is outside of all law. Seems strange to me to parse it out like this. If we say the 2nd attack on the boat is the war crime, aren't we ,by proxy, saying that the initial attack was legitimate?

Edit to say after reading "David's" post, yeah, these are just murders, not war crimes.

Why are these declarations so lawyerly? Because it serves the interests of the more powerful nations.

Just as the railroad barons said, “law? What do I care for the law”

The use of law and Donald Trump in the same sentence. It’s an oxymoron.

Trump is exercising his self anointed God status.

In his feeble and twisted mind, he is much like the pharaoh who said “so let it be written, so let it be done”

His disconnect from reality is, and, has been evident for many years.

He has pointed himself, judge, jury, and execution, and Congress?

They lay low.

Donnie loves to playact as a tough guy, but he decidedly isn't one. So he associates with tough guys -- real or as phony as he is -- to bask in their auras. That's why he constantly sucks up to jockdom and keeps a posturing moron like Hegseth around. And it's why tries so hard to be intimidating, only to shrink when someone calls his bluff. TACO is real; the no-fly zone wasn't. He had no intention of risking U.S. pilots' lives by enforcing it, and he was never going to order the military to shoot down an airliner. Perhaps losing the threat of a shoot-down is why he's so pissed off at the Dems who reminded the military of its duty to refuse illegal orders.

I keep waiting for someone to AI produce a video - where he is sitting in a wheelchair at a table in an old folks' home, with some random young volunteer listening to him spit all the nonsense he says (like the nonsense on AF1, or really any of his ramblings or social media posts.)

Because that really is what he sounds like (and is) -- a nasty old man who just spits out the first gripe that comes into his mind with no filter.

Also, I laughed out loud at the Zoolander crazy pills meme. Thank you JVL.

I haven't seen much commentary to the effect that if there are any survivors to these attacks, they may actually prove to be fishermen (or maybe even small time smugglers of, say, toasters). Dead men tell no tales and if one of these guys turns up in Venezuela or even in American custody, they might just talk.

I guess madmen can be narcissists and vice-versa, but I think in Trump's case we simply have a six year-old in an octegenarian's body with a rapidly decaying brain; insuficcient rescources to be an evil genius but plenty for an evil idiot. Would he push the big red button for that last burst of attention? Stamp his feet with the nuclear codes? I think if push comes to shove, his sycophants will abandon him and the military will tell him to go fuck himself.

Sometimes one has to express themselves by stating what many of us feel is obvious to maintain hope and sanity. Maybe, by reading JVL’s articles) along with a miracle), we will be able to explain to one Trump supporter the error of their ways.

Trump did not write this. Some minion of his writes many of these messages and gets Trump's approval. This appears to be more of an to be an offensive joke, but still a threat. This is far too coherent to be something he dashed off. And again, he gets to set our hair on fire over the implication
