“Deterrence is no longer enough, and we need more defense. “Because otherwise, it will be too late here, Mr. Secretary,” he said. “Putin will not stop in Ukraine; he will not stop.” —Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda

The warning from the Lithuanian president is just one more sign that the world we have known has been transformed in the last two weeks. The Germans and the Danes (!) are arming; Poland is home to more than a million refugees. And even with all of his frustrations, Putin continues his campaign of annihilation.

Images of Russian war crimes will accelerate the destruction of the illusion of a stable — and moral— world order.

Here’s another sign of how much things have changed:

Happy Tuesday.

Today’s Morning Shots is a busy place and (as usual) designed to make almost everyone unhappy in one way or another. Here’s our rundown:

  • This is the post-truth world.

  • About Bill Barr. [EXPLICIT]

  • Tucker flips back to Russian propaganda.

  • The problem with Florida.

  • Tom Cotton’s wildly revisionist history.

  • Vindman drops the hammer on RonAnon.

  • Triggering Nikole Hannah-Jones.

Our post-truth world

This NYT article raises the question: What if they gave a war and people didn’t believe it was happening?
