Here in CA, gas for guns buyback program already ran out of gas cards after 3 days. If Supreme Court makes open carry nationwide, I seriously thinking of moving my kids to another country. It's not just the fear (statistically I know my kids are not likely to be shot) - but it's living in a society where kids getting slaughtered beyond recognition in school is acceptable. My kids are traumatized/ scared to go to school - they know what's up. We all marched after parkland. They know. They live with the dread.

I don't want to live with the dread anymore. I don't want my kids to have to live with it. It's madness. It infects everyone.

For reference, I have several friends and family members with ARs, SP5’s, Mini 14s, APC300s . My neighbor has 2 and my dad has 3 : one for him, my brother and me. Our wives put the kibosh on those, which is fine, so he still has 3. For some reason they get to make all the major decisions. My wife threatened to withhold sex, and I threatened to withhold sex from her, but I think she saw that as an idle and/or desirable threat. I don’t really need one, but when some sketchy people around me have them it definitely crosses my mind.

It may seem completely unnecessary to many of you, and it probably is, but those weapons are out there. No matter how you feel about it, I’ll say a few things. None of them ever, ever openly carry. They all agree that no 18 year old should ever own one. They all would agree that in order to buy one you should have to pass a background check, and maybe even have a special license. I’ve always felt like these weapons should either be a Class 3 or some new kind of class just short of Class 3. There’s a big problem with that : all those things make selling guns slightly more difficult. There is definitely a culture of guns out there, because I’ve seen people invest their life savings in weapons. They’re basically mass casualty NFTs for poor white people. They think they’re great investments, because any day now the Libs are coming to take them away. Well, I was told in 1989 that Topps baseball cards were great investments then they went and made hundreds of millions of them.

On a side note, I don’t understand why I can buy a weapon that’s made for mass casualties, but if I want to do a couple lines of coke off a hooker I have to jump through A LOT of hoops and take risks. Because that right is not enumerated in the Constitution? There’s only one vague statement on bearing arms. I thought we like freedom, right? Well, it’s mainly because guns are associated with Christian goodness while coke and hookers are not. It’s one of the greatest propaganda plays in history. If Colt sold coke and hookers, and I’m not totally opposed to that, believe me there would be a lot of talk about ā€œpersonal libertyā€ on the right.
