Part of the reason I've liked Nancy Pelosi for a long time is she's the definition of quiet competence. You rarely see Pelosi grandstand, trying to eat media time, or making the Speaker of the House job about her ego. She gets legislation passed, eats her ice cream, and moves onto the next bill.
Nothing about how she acted on Jan. 6 surprises me.

It did surprise me that she didnтАЩt call out Scalise for his blatant lie but maybe theyтАЩre just used to that? Also itтАЩs striking that she didnтАЩt feel the need to brag about what she did. Pence couldnтАЩt brag about his heroism because his party literally wanted to kill him for doing the right thing. But Pelosi didnтАЩt have that issue. In this celebrity obsessed age, itтАЩs good to be reminded of people who step up because someone needs to and do whatтАЩs right because itтАЩs right - not because theyтАЩre looking to grandstand about it tomorrow. тАЬQuiet CompetenceтАЭ is a beautiful thing.
Aside from everything awful and corrupt about these people, theyтАЩre also just complete two dimensional bores But NP, like LC, is the real deal. I think she was speaking for many of us when she said sheтАЩd happily go to jail for an opportunity to punch you know who in the face.
The contrast with Chuck Schumer couldn't have been more stark. His anger was palpable. Of course, Schumer didn't say anything wrong. Who wouldn't have been angry in such a situation? Only Pelosi.

Nancy Pelosi is living proof that octogenarians can be at the top of their game.

If only NP had been our first woman president.

I think this quiet competence is why the Republicans hate her. They don't seem to have much competence and they are certainly not quiet.
I joked with a friend once:
"Republicans hate Nancy Pelosi for the same reason I hate Tom Brady. He's really good at what he does and he never plays for my team."
