We never dealt with slavery, especially in the South. I think Jon Lovett, in conversation with Tim yesterday (hard but really worth listening to or watching) said it best: we never see movies about the Reconstruction. We Americans may have run out of road on moving on. Personally I’d like to see some reckoning.

“Deal with your shit, or it deals with you.”
America has not dealt with her shit, and now that shit is dealing with us.
Man I hope we thread the needle that has been presented, not for me, I am old, but for the younger people I know. My heart breaks for the youngs.
