Thanks, Tim, for having Patrick Gaspard on. He’s such a brilliant and insightful person. It’s great to have his knowledge focused on what’s really happening in that loathsome Oval Office meeting.

Hard to believe McConnell ever thought/acted on issues outside the Team Repub bubble. He sure didn't in the last decade.

Reuters praised the visitor, Pres. Ramaphosa, for "keeping his cool" while Pres. T mis-behaved. https://www.Reuters.com/world/africa/buffeted-by-trump-South-Africas-Ramaphosa-praised-keeping-his-cool-2025-05-22/

From Jerry's wife: Land reform in S. Af. is tricky, formerly nomadic and settled peoples making up the earliest ones there. Call them Group 1. Forced on to inferior land, the country history thus included racist segregation called "apartheid". Boundaries are fought over now, just as, hundreds of years ago, the Dutch and British contested control. Many onlookers were amazed that there was not a blood bath when apartheid ended. Nelson Mandela was given credit for peace-keeping, as well as varied people in Group 1.

Land to be reformed causes debates. The land was once inside the roaming range of Group 1 (historically African). Group 1 has long wanted more land returned to them, after taken years ago by incoming Group 2 (primarily Dutch farmers).

The British were Group 3, causing war as they also wanted to keep and then expand land portions as colonies. However, the East Indies Company (Dutch) was in the region first, after 1650. The Brits were counted as in control in 1795, when there was a War between the two Europeans won by the Brits.

To be more precise, using Wiki as a modern source-- Group 2 was said to include Dutch plus French Huguenots and some of German descent known as Trekboers. Pre-1824 or so, those ethnicities were limited to British-controlled Cape of Good Hope, expanded outward trying to be free of the British. Cape Hope is now its own province (earliest settling by British 1795, last a Brit colony in 1910).

AFRIKAANERS CORRECT, NOT BOERS. The Dutch-mix of Group 2, with many farmers originally having Trekboers in their midst, were called Boers by the British. They, however, call themselves Afrikaaners. Their language is a dialect of Dutch, the official language. Group 1 has not insisted on their languages, but apparently has adapted.

Group 1? In addition to nomadic Africans, looking for names of settled sets, found more settled African members in the Orange Free State. The Free State was formerly separate as a country, is now its own province inside S. Af. Named groups included the Sotho, the Korana/Khoikhoi, and some of a set called the Barolong.

Big reveal at 5:25pm ET by CNN. Who would guess? "'These are all WHITE farmers that are being buried,' said Trump." Accusing S. Africa! Nope, says Reuters, T's enablers borrowed video Reuters showed back on Feb. 3. Reuters said it was taken in the CONGO. The same Pres who faked dressing himself up in Pope clothes? Hiring the appointees that faked gang tattoos on the poor Dad shipped back to El Salv.? Who would guess the deaths Trump showed were in the Congo, not in in S. Africa?

Maybe he will care now about the Afghans trying to immigrate, "thrown under the bus", when Trump negotiated the Taliban take-over back in his first term. They are a tad too brown? Wrong color?

CNN said "In fact, the video, published by Reuters on February 3 and subsequently verified by the news agency’s fact check team, showed humanitarian workers lifting body bags in the Congolese city of Goma. The image was pulled from Reuters footage shot following deadly battles with Rwanda-backed M23 rebels.

The blog post showed to Ramaphosa by Trump during the White House meeting was published by American Thinker, a conservative online magazine, about conflict and racial tensions in South Africa and Congo.

The post did not caption the image but identified it as a “YouTube screen grab” with a link to a video news report about Congo on YouTube, which credited Reuters."

Trump is such an embarrassment with other world leaders. He's really become so obsessed with getting revenge on people who don't agree. He's a terrible leader

I’ve been told I’m too logical, but all I keep thinking is

Are they all farmers?

Are they coming to farm here?

Because I’ve spent time in South Africa and in Capetown & environs it’s overwhelmingly white, middle to upper class and if they are coming here to work in retail or insurance they could just as well do that in S.A.

I know that’s not what really enrages everyone including me…but logic

Yes, I was embarrassed for America also, and yes we know Trump is a racist and liar!

And guess what, we elected him, and he represents the character that we allowed into the White House.

When you travel outside the country, everyone will look at you differently. Deal with it, or do everything to get these racist, right-wing winger greedy bastards out of public office and into public prisons where they belong.
