The bulwark should cover this: Unfuck America's, a democratic counter to TPUSA, event at ASU was canceled after Erika Kirk came and complained about them on campus. National ground game, the organization behind unfuck america is now suing ASU for a first amendment violation.

Not a Joe Kent fan. I wonder what he's up to.

Thanks for covering the dreaded extreme right-wing beat, so we can in turn beat them.

I believe Trump will soon put boots on the ground Iran. Why? Because as soon as American soldiers start dying, it becomes

toxic for politicians to be against the war for any reason. It's an old Republican trick: anyone who questions the war is unpatriotic, betrays our troops, is a commie, hates America, etc., etc, etc. I know this is kind of a cynical take, but everything about this war is a lie. It's disgraceful.

If nothing else, this will be fun to watch. Pass the popcorn!

I've seen a bit of Joe Kent in action. The congressional district he was trying to represent is a very Republican district on the other side of the Columbia River. It would be a mistake to interpret his resignation as an indication he has suddenly acquired principles or a conscience. This is just the first of the rats to leave a sinking ship.

It did look like he jump before having to start testifying

Joe Kent is a vile piece of filth. But things are so unbounded and moving so fast, it's hard to keep track of what's happening, let alone what even might happen next. I think you're right here on a couple of things.

I think we'll see the rise of the new Reasonable Nazis(TM), who will try to siphon off the America Firsters and raise whatever can come out of the wreckage of the GOP. They will have to make coalition with some of the hard-core MAGA, who peel off the Trump train as their economic prospects collapse. But all this is speculation on inside baseball of which I have no insight.

What is actually clearer here, is how Kent's very loud and embarrassing exit lays down a permission structure for others to do the same. I think the odds of this beginning to cascade just jumped tremendously. Most of these people are weak, afraid and stupid. They attached themselves like leeches to Donald Trump, suffering under all the humiliations he heaped on them, because they had no other options. They've all risen as far in government as they ever can, and they know it. They are now weighing that against getting out now, possibly avoiding some of the inevitable downstream legal repercussions, and finding a remaining perch to roost on like at Fox or OAN.

Oh, snark detected. Completely justified, though.

I was unclear, let me restate: "Joe Kent is a vile piece of filth AND I believe he is telling the truth". Kent is the real deal, deep experience and knowledge, military background and accomplishments that won't quit. The only stunning thing about this is how different he is from the other flatworms in the administration, how the hell did he slip through their integrity-detection process?

In my enthusiasm to get to other points, my mouth got out in front of my brain. I'm such an excitable young lad, doncha know.

That would be a blind and illegitimate position. Tossing out information based on tangential facts is a mistake, as you originally pointed out. We could still later decide that Kent's mind is clouded on the war in the same way it's clouded on Jews and race generally, and our conclusions could adjust accordingly.

I still can’t tell how much of this is just all online BS

I live in WA's 3rd CD, where Kent ran twice and lost both times. His coziness with white supremacy adherents in North Clark County, where he still owns a home, helped seal his failure both times. I wonder if the America First MAGAs are going to push him as a Presidential candidate in 2028? He has the Hollywood looks they all seem to love.

I did hear that him and nick were on the same wave length

I hate to say it, but something like, "Kent: My President" looks good on a bumper sticker.

There's too much at stake to just sit back with popcorn as this bunch goes to war with each other, but what else is there but to subscribe to The Bulwark and keep up with the news.

Let them fight!

No, really, what I hope is that the fracture of MAGA leads to the ousting of the groypers, Calrson, Candace wing of the party. Not in favor of the Iran war but would like to see all these conspiracy asshats kicked to the curb a la Bircher-expulsion. Of course, no way JD Vance gets the nod without them, so that would be a bonus, too.

I can't believe Glenn Beck quoted " My Big Fat Greek Wedding"!

Hey @willsomer & @thebulwark -

PLEASE include a link to source material, in this case, Kent’s resignation letter, that is the center of an article! Everyone has not had a chance to read this letter, but there’s lots of commentary on it from every direction. It’s important to be able to follow what you’re showing us.

I am meh about the whole MAGA Civil War thing. I think people are expecting too much from it in the short term.

The vast majority of this is about various people positioning themselves for the post-Donald GoP. It isn't about any significant resistance to the Donald or what is being done. The whole Epstein thing seems to be going nowhere. The Iran War thing isn't really going to go anywhere. Most o these people are okay with the whole ICE thing.

Nobody is going to try and take on the Donald directly. That is a death sentence in today's GoP.

Most of this is only going to become meaningful AFTER Trump, when they are fighting about what the next iteration of MAGA is going to be and who will lead it.

Barry's avatar

I'm all in on anything that fractures the villainous Maga coalition and has them cannibalize their own.

They'll need instructions on how to form a circular firing squad. They're not very bright.
