Widow’s Bay is such good tv a little scary and creepy at time but really funny as well. I’m surprised that I enjoyed it as much as I did because I do not like horror.
I really like the show as well and the humor part is very true. Some of the talent behind the show has ties to Parks & Rec and it definitely has a workplace comedy vibe running behind the horror as a well-intentioned public servant tries to overcome the local hauntings and grow the town.
Way late to the conversation, and while I'm not *streaming* anything at the moment, I am in the middle of watching the seven seasons of the Rockford Files on Blu-ray!
Fantastic show and an incredible snapshot of California in the early '70s. Features quite the list of celebrity guest stars and is one of the few shows ever that doesn't fall over themselves to present police conduct in a flattering light. Recommended viewing.
I love Close Encounters and rewatched it last night, great film, great suggestion. But, I also loved Disclosure Day and have no clue what you mean when you say it lacked excitement. I was on the edge of my seat for many scenes, didn't glance at my watch, and felt the 2+ hours flew by. I'm interested in audience reactions but I feel that Disclosure Day is among Spielberg's best, and that' saying something.
My wife and I are in our 70s so I wouldn't be surprised to find that we're out of step with others. After all, it's true in all other aspects of our lives these days. BTW, we go to movies 1-2 times a year, and we were shocked by the prices. For example, a small bag of plain popcorn cost $11.50. Wow.
For anyone else who loves Mathew Rhys, I recommend the HBO show "Perry Mason". There's only 2 seasons of it. It's the role that officially made me a Mathew Rhys fan. Side note: I did not realize he's British. Who knew?!
My husband and I love Widow’s Bay! The actors are amazing, and the writing is exceptional. You do have to pay attention to catch all the little nuances. I’m happy they are making a season 2.

Yes. Widow's Bay is good fun. And the leads are great. Rhys is great (who knew he had such comic timing?). Root is great. And Patricia Moyer is great.

DTF St. Louis illicited such a range of emotions for me. I love dark comedies, but I didn't expect the series to be so heartbreaking.
