It shouldn't even need to be said by now. Whatever tiny "benefits" you think you are getting from engaging with that stupid blue bird website are but a minute fraction of a fraction compared to the harms the bird website is doing to you as an individual and society at large. Please, get off twatter now. Not next week, not "I'll just cut back," not "I'll take a break for a month," NOW. If not sooner.

My mood improved a lot after I got off. Aside from blocking the trolls, the people like Rom Filipkowski were really getting on my nerves and I hated the sports horseshit. "This game .." What game? Fuck you.

I have always thought of Twitter as a sewer and refuse to wallow in the mud.

Twitter is to us what lead plumbing pipes were to the Roman Empire

I get the reference. Most don't.

The periodic table abbreviation for lead is Pb, short for plumbum, with the same root as "plumbing." Aristocratic Romans often had wine piped in through lead pipes. As wine soured it became bitter with acetic acid, which reacted with the lead to form lead tetraacetate, known as "sugar of lead" because it has a sweet taste. It made the wine sweeter and it made those drinking it go mad.

Oh, and stupid.

Twitter is not harming me as an individual because I don't participate in the give and take - the Twitter mobs and brawls. I don't check it for my daily dose of outrage. I don't follow anyone who uses profanity and name-calling. (I used to be able to tell the pre-Musk Twitter I'm not interested in those tweets.) I follow journalists, legal experts and authors only. Most of them have left Twitter, so I don't spend much time there anymore.

Agree it, along with the current iteration of Facebook, is harming the society at large.

It's easier to use Facebook in a limited way like communicating with distant friends.

Since that sicko bought Twitter I found myself deluged with right-wing crap and decided to call it a day.
