Biden, of course. I'm a lifelong Dem. I've never voted R in my life because what the party stands for represents me better than the R party does. Whoever my party chooses as our nominee, I will do all I can to get him or her elected.

Do you really think a long-time and very active Bulwark subscriber would vote for Trump???

Just to be clear, Max, I am not talking against Biden. I'm talking against his chances of beating Trump. Do you see the difference?

Do you see the difference? To quote Kamala questioning Bill Barr, "It's a yes or no question."

Thx for your reply. Let me try again. I am not talking against Biden, as you put it. I'm talking against his chances of beating Trump. Do you see the difference?

Sandy, of course you're talking against Biden.

Which is fine for Bill Kristol because he's just doing what he's done for 40 years - pontificate like he's the Oracle at Delphi.

But in the real world, there are problems.

1. Who replaces him?

2. That person? Where do they get the millions to run? (Biden's PAC controls that money. I don't know what the DNC or the DSC have in the bank but I'm going to bet it's not close to what Biden controls.)

3. How do we even get them ON THE BALLOT IN ALL 50 STATES?

There is no road forward which doesn't lose this election. And Bill Kristol knows it.

3.

2.

Bridget, for some reason, you don't (won't?) see a difference between Joe Biden the man and the Democratic party nominee.

As to your question of who replaces him, first of all, Biden has to choose to step down. The easiest replacement is Biden endorsing Kamala. I have seen a number of proposals for other candidates to be considered - an open convention (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qd-yMMSZDOI&list=PLdMrbgYfVl-szepgVpArP0obwYgbKdfvx&index=29&t=44s), a mini-primary (https://www.politico.com/news/2024/07/03/clyburn-biden-president-election-dnc-00166481), and four historic town halls between now and the Convention (https://www.nytimes.com/2024/07/08/opinion/biden-democratic-nominee.html). According to veteran political stragegist Mike Murphy, Biden can transfer the money to a PAC or to the DNC or send it back to the donors who can donate to another candidate. Murphy says there will be so much enthusiasm about a young, moderate candidate to oppose Trump, the donations will flow.

As to ballot access, in all 50 states, if you are the party's nominee, you're on the ballot. That is all that is required.

You are loyal to Joe Biden the man. I am loyal to the Democratic Party candidate who has the best chance to beat Trump. If you're convinced Biden is that candidate, then tell me why. Why are you convinced that road ends in a win?

If Kamala Harris was the option, none of you would be pushing this nonsense.

Because she's already on the ticket.

This push is to ignore all the primary voters and instead have a tempest in a teapot which will make us look like hysterical idiots.

I'm not loyal to anyone. I'm looking at junior high school histrionics and calling it bullshit.

Here's a question for you.

Fifty states (we can ignore DC and the territories for the moment).

How are you going to get your imaginary perfect candidate on fifty ballots?

How are you going to get the signatures for the states where they can still get on the ballot?

They can't file as an independent because the deadline has already passed in several states including Georgia and Illinois. Do you think red state legislatures will pass bills to allow this new candidate on the ballot?

How do you get Biden's PAC money to them? Who's their campaign staff?

How do you make ad buys? The FEC is evenly split -- do you think the Republicans will make it easy to transfer campaign funds?

The chattering class loves this because it drives traffic to their sites and because it guarantees Trump's victory.

Why are you doing it?

I already answered your questions except for the ad buys. I don't know anything about that.

OK, thx for answering. Can you give me an example of one of my comments where it looks like my intent is to bash Biden himself rather than his chances of beating Trump?
