John Yoo, who wrote the torture memos, didn’t face any consequences, and has a chaired position at Berkeley. I think he is now pro Trump iirc. He should have been disbarred and disowned by civil society, treated as one would treat Diddy if he got out and were walking around. The fact that there were no consequences then has led us here.
The torture at Abu Ghraib and the advocacy of using torture by many in the GOP (including Dick Cheney) was perhaps the first step in that party's descent into its current sadistic, cruel, and malevolent form.
