SPEAKER 1
Y'all, my man Chris Murphy, Senator from Connecticut, just went totally ham on Christy Noem. Well, at least we think it was Christy Noem. It might have been a mannequin because her face doesn't move. But I want to play this full clip for you because, you know,
0:18
a lot of times some of the stuff that Chris Murphy goes over with her gets lost in the wash. It's hard to follow. The administration is breaking so many laws. They are so contemptuous of the rule of law that it becomes kind of like the grownups in the peanuts noise.
0:36
And I think Chris Murphy does a good job of just clearly and succinctly breaking it down for all of us. Here are the things that the administration is doing that's against the law with regards to immigration, with regards to its treatment of immigrants. We talk about that a lot here.

Chris Murphy Nukes Kristi Noem’s Out-of-Control DHS

Sen. Chris Murphy confronted DHS Secretary Kristi Noem about her agency's illegal overspending, immigration law violations, and mismanagement of funds.

Senator Chris Murphy today in the Trump era is not only the Conscience of the Senate but he is right now the Conscience of the country. We have to memorialize this because there will be a day when our children and grandchildren will want to know what we did during this great moral failure that is the Trump era and we want speeches like Senator Murphy's to stand witness that people knew, our leaders were told and were warned. And they chose to do nothing in the face of evil.

Murphy is so good at laying things out, when the White House tries to obfuscate. Interesting that are running out of money due to going after wrong things, too much on deportations and not enough on Congressionally required helping people trying to become citizens.

President Biden deported more migrants per day than tRump’s DHS & all were given due process. This is just an inept, clown car administration

I well remember when Kristi Noem was sworn in for her role as DHS Secretary and Chief Dog-Shooting’ Lady. She strode into the big room at St. Elizabeths, coiffed and manicured to the big-lashed perfection we all now know too well. Her classy theme music: “One Hot Mama” by Trace Atkins.

“That is what our job is here as well at the Department of Homeland Security. We prepare ahead and think three steps ahead so that people have what they need before they need it…I will challenge you to think ahead and to think what people might need before they actually need it."

That apparently means stiffing contractors who contracted services to get “the things that people might need.”

Thank you for sharing! Yay for Sen. Murphy. For months now DHS has not paid its invoices to contractors for work already contracted and agreed upon, leading to the gutting of small American businesses. My company's work for CISA has been terminated. And a lot of our unpaid work for DHS was ironically enough for the procurement office. They liked to pride themselves on their "innovative procurement techniques." Boy, not paying invoices is sure innovative! Let's not even get into the $30 million ad campaign. And I wonder who's paying the invoices from El Salvador...?

I only kinda wish they would have shown Sec. Noem’s face as it melted off her skull like in the scene from Raiders of the Lost Ark.

Brilliant--and chilling--summation of Noem's and therefore Trumps crimes. And now we have the arrest of the mayor of Newark and the manhandling of 3 US representatives.

This is Chris Murphy. He has been clear and impassioned for months now. Why does he seem to be the only one working consistently and forcefully to keep the focus on all of this lawlessness? He seems to be alert to the moment in ways others need to learn from.

DAILY!!!!!!!

Minor language quibble. “The Mayor of Newark was illegally detained by 20 armed collaborators in ICE uniforms.”

“Arrest” implies a lawful detention for most people.

Someone within ICE decided to do something intimidating in response to a lawful congressional visit. I’m always weary of assuming others motivations but I cannot think of another explanation.

I don’t have words to describe how horrifying that, and all the other recent ICE, video is.

ThIS SO awesome!!!!The delineation of facts, budget concerns-that is how she governed South Dakota-misusing funds not using other funds...she prided herself in not using the federal funds allotted South Dakota for COVID...prided herself in a budget surplus..yet when she left all of a sudden-we are coming up short. She has been called on the misuse of the State plane use for her jetting around with Trump campaign manager working for Trump.....She also used our State Reserves to police the border with private funds, leaving this state vulnerable for any emergencies...Something slipped with Kristy Noem-the botax has frozen her soul.........a Rapid City Dem in a red Hell....

This gathers a number of stomach-churning matters into a single coda for Trump's "100 Days". Murphy is correct - beyond the cruel prejudices infesting the administration's cabinet warriors and factotums [looking at you, Miller... and you, too Vought] - they all seem in thrall to a trickle-down conceit that 1) Donald's grace-of-God survival of a clumsy assassination plot [thus - the Chosen One], plus; 2) Donald's spare popular majority last November, plus; 3) SCOTUS's get-outta-jail-free/Willy Wonka Golden Ticket ruling last summer [which in Trump's assimilation, affords carte blanche]. ...And, an untested conviction Donald will, worst events, be generous with his pardon-powers... In consequence has enthused all his lieutenants and grifting hangers-on in lawless showmanship and licentious disregard for even common-sense governance.

"Inherit the wind(s)" say I...

As for mine own coda to 'His' first 100 days - I'm re-initiating my Covid-interrupted emigration to foreign domicile (before they shun Americans). Not because pendulum swing is inconceivable - just that it's not conceivable whilst I've still breath. So - Ciao. Or, Adieu. Or, Adeus. And, good luck.

Senator Murphy is fantastic, here. Thank you for bringing attention to what he said.

We will remember the lawless and cruel acts carried out by the Trump regime.

Be afraid, MAGA cult members. Trump will not always be in power. When the tide turns, and it will, you will be prosecuted. You will go to jail. The fact that MAGA cult members don't comprehend this, don't fear any repercussions, is a testament to their stupidity and short-sightedness.

We. Will. Remember.

Thank you for highlighting this. It was very powerful. Out of all the policies that Trump and his administration have enacted, blatantly disobeying the rule of the law is the one that makes me the most anxious. Too high of tariffs - those will come down once the economic realities are felt. Vaccine hesitancy - that will shift when people start dying. But making people disappear and violating the constitution without consequence - when that door fully opens I don't know how you shut it. You think democrats will shut it when they are in office? Not before they even the score. It will devolve to the point where elections will be to decide which level of corruption you agree with more.
