As a showman and candidate from the party of the WWE, Trump knows what just happened. The roles have changed. He was the strongman, the one who survived the bullet, the one who can overwhelm the weak old man with the failed polices of the past. Now, he is the old man. He represents a past that is filled with anger and conflict. He is now the villain who want to rule aspects of American’s private lives. He is the criminal; she is the law-and-order prosecutor.

The biggest change, something he will have difficulty overcoming, is that Harris can say she represents the future, and Trump is the past, and he wants to bring American back even further into the past, to the time of Jim Crow, and when women couldn’t vote or own property. To Trump, Harris is using her nails on a blackboard to irritate him, the nails of a strong, competent, outspoken women of color. His racism and misogyny will go out of control. The Dems are energized and mobilized. Let’s not F*ck this up.

You think the misogynists won’t trash her as badly as they did Clinton?

Clinton tried to not react and to stay above the fray. Harris will point out not just Trump’s constant demeaning of women, and his history as a sexual predator but how he fears and loathes competent women because they can instantly tell what a slimeball he is.

I hope you’re right too, and I hope Dems stay as fired up as Sarah was on the Live last night—really guys, go watch it on YouTube just for Sarah being giddy. It was so in tune with how I was feeling that I felt a rush of love for her and all the Bulwark team and all of us arguing in the comments.

Now we have something to fight with. LFG.

I stayed up way too late watching that (I wasn't home when it went live) because the giddiness and relief was just so infectious.

Dems should focus on Trump's cognitive decline but have to be careful about "a vote for Trump is a vote for Vance". It's not that it can't be effective b/c his resume is so thin right now. It could work if the public believes Trump won't mentor him to be replacement b/c of his narcissism.

A vote for Trump is a vote for Vance could work, maybe, if people realize that a vote for Vance is a vote for Nationalist Conservatism. But if they’ve already bought into that agenda (NatCon), then it will only make things worse, not better.

I haven’t seen that frame that a vote for Trump would be a vote for Vance. Trump is scary enough on his own, don’t you think?

This is a very energized and optimistic outlook. I certainly hope you're right. I think it's going to be a hard battle. Let's wait and see who she picks for her running mate. I'm hoping for the best as well.
