The first voter at the polling place where I’m assigned was an elderly man from Mexico. He says he’s been here for over 20 years and became a citizen in 2023. This is the first time he’s been able to vote.

He was so proud. He came out at 5:30 AM to be first on line and asked for three “I voted” stickers in case one falls off at work.

In a few minutes, I'll be off to my election worker "job". I will be completely unplugged today, probably until early tomorrow morning, counting votes behind closed doors. I consider this a blessing, since it will keep me from fretting and worrying all day.

It's also a blessing to know that The Bulwark folks (the writers, analysts, and the community) will be keeping an eye on things for me in the background, all evening, all night, and beyond. I'm glad to be a small part of it all.
