"The entire thing is designed as a catch-22. If you register, you’re raising your hand and yelling, “Over here, ICE! Come deport me!” If you don’t register, then you’re not only an undocumented immigrant but also a criminal, and therefore more likely to be deported. Which is exactly why the administration implemented the policy."

Sooner or later, federal judges are going to order the identification of the officials who authorized these tactics and the release of any memoranda justifying the methods in use. I will not surprise me to see Miller and Homan figure prominently in the paper trail.
Yes, they have arrested people who come for their appointments, often thinking they were coming to apply for citizenship. There is a process for them to become legal residents, but Trump doesn't want anyone to come to America without $5M. He has no idea how valuable immigration has always been for America. The Republicans all seem to be blinded by bigotry.
Same as it ever was. Politics is downstream of culture until economic consequences are felt acutely, then politics is about the economy. We're not at the "felt acutely" part yet, and if the "felt acutely" part is contained to a small share of the populace (like farmers for example) then nobody else gives a fuck and politics remains about the culture fight.

How is this not considered entrapment?
