As a once Reagan conservative, son of a conservatively opinionated, successful small businessman and community leader, I subscribed whole-heartedly to the traditional small government views of Charley and George’s 1980-mid 1990’s world. But then that was before I grew up to perceive a larger picture of interrelated policies and concepts that can’t neatly compress the world into a nicely fitted box.
Life on the earth is so much more complicated and requires a wider aperture to capture the broader view. While George is still stuck in that rut, I found that Charley didn’t allow his conservative preferences get in his way to objectively evaluate his party’s derailment into the abyss of Trumpism, even to the point of even complimenting Democratic policies, such as those of Joe Biden.
