I've been saying this about Christie for awhile. Damn right he should stay in.

1. In the current context, he can act like Haley's catspaw, allowing her to stay clean and bringing the GOP back to normalcy, while he constantly dings Trump over and over again with roundhouses and playing in the muddy, dirty underbelly of politics.

2. Someone in the GOP HAS to make the case against Trump. He's the ONLY one doing it.

3. If Trump wins the nomination (which is almost inevitable at this point), someone needs to be the one saying to the non-Trump GOP, "Its better for America to vote for Biden, tolerate the next 4 years, and then choose a real GOP candidate in 2028, than it is to vote for Trump, go from crisis to crisis, watch America's standing in the world collapse and possibly not see an election in 2028." None of the other candidates will do that. Christie would.

I despise Christie, but I will give credit where credit is due. NJ was hurting after Hurricane Sandy. Christie sucked it up and posed with Obama for the feel good photo ops after he accepted federal aid that his state needed. I'm sure it hurt Christie in GOP circles, but he did right by the people he represented.

As an NJ resident, I agree with you about his response to Hurricane Sandy, but if by some miracle he becomes the Republican nominee, he may beat Biden but not carry our state. Many of us will never forget his causing our State Parks to be closed for a holiday due to his budget brinksmanship - and then get photographed lounging on one of the closed beaches.

I mean, he *is* an asshole, but he is an asshole who believes in democratic norms. Strange bedfellows and all that, but I won't lie in bed awake in November if he was elected president.

I agree that overall he's rotten. However, on one occasion he put the Stat's needs over his own. Sadly, that makes him a small minority in the current GOP.

That was not one of his better moments. I was actually surprised he could be that stupid.
