There are probably two factors at play here when it comes to the Paul Ryans of the world. One is, as Charlie puts it, "moral cowardice," and the other is, as Murdoch puts it, neither blue nor red, but green. Ryan not blowing the whistle to stay relevant may seem virtuous to him, but it reeks of Omerta to me.

Ryan thinks Fox, which is clearly at the root of the problem, needs to be a part of the solution. I have a hypothetical scenario for him. He wanted Fox to lay out all of the known fraud claims, then lay out the evidence for them and against them, presumably assuming the result that this might stop the gas lighting of their audience. Let's say Paul Ryan wanted to speak up and say the election was fair, and Biden won and Trump lost, and the claims coming from the Trump camp were baseless. Where would he be able to go and say this? Not on Tucker. Not on Hannity. He could go to MSNBC. He could go to CNN. But he wouldn't be allowed to do it on Fox. And if he can't say it on Fox, then that's why Fox is the problem, and that problem isn't getting fixed. It's not even enough to blow the whistle. You have to blow the whistle at 8pm weeknights on Fox, repeatedly, which means you have to turn Fox into something other than what it is.
"Ryan not blowing the whistle to stay relevant may seem virtuous to him, but it reeks of Omerta to me."
I think that nails it. Ryan seems the kind of person you'd love to have as a neighbor. You could give him the keys to your house and car and he would watch them while you were away and even come over and cut the grass or shovel the walk (Wisconsin) without even mentioning that he was doing it. And yet he goes to work every day (board meetings and such) with organized criminals and takes payment for his services. Which so far as anyone can tell are politely disregarded because to them he's merely a beard brought in to help add an air of gentility.
Ryan is a man who has convinced himself that Omerta is attorney client privilege. This allows him to walk among thieves and remain honest.
If he was to exercise his power as an independent director, he should have been speaking to everyone at the board and threatened to resign en masse unless the trio of prime time banshees stop peddling lies or inviting guests who lied.
I am a fan and glad she's in the Senate. Just like I was happy to see Marianne Williamson on the debate stage in wheneveritwas and I hear she may be back. They bring views that need to be heard.
Exactly Don! Crux of the problem. The main outcome I want to see of the brilliant Dominion lawsuit is that every night at 8 or 9pm main hosts (Tucker, Hannity) must have a spot something like “Truth about 1/6”... the only hope for reaching the millions that believe the Big Lie is to do it prime time on Fox.
The flip side of that is the racism that is entirely transactional. Where it exists it is used, where it does not intrude it is not introduced. Old people are fraud targets because they are vulnerable, not because the fraudsters have an agenda.
We aren't exploiting you from malice. Really, don't take it personally, this is strictly business.
The ideology of marketism (I don't want to use Capitalism because of the the emotional freight in the term) presents it as morally pure because it is totally amoral.

Yes, yes and more Yes! Nail meet head!

People like him make me sick.
He is probably covered by director and officer insurance, so will keep his big fat pay check. Where is JVL when we want to rant about capitalism?

Not a fan at all either but I always say these corporate bad actors need a dose of Liz Warren from time to time.

It is all about the Benjamins and desires of power.
