You might consider doing a review of Town Halls by one of your guests,, BAD vs GOOD .
1) Youtube has a bunch of clips. A BAD one has the sponsoring rep walking out on the invited constituents. One had a GOOD town hall, state next-door to his, excellent questions, his answers to a healthcare question left me feeling hopeful instead of dismayed. It was here YouTube.com/watch?v=0fUU_IbMxw8
2) Some are switching to online, zoom, phone-in, trying to avoid TV cameras catching them walking out when asked tough questions,. Some apparently screen the questions, ask the callers to first state their questions to a receptionist. PRO: They can then have staff look up some facts before they answer. CON: If they "run out of time", however, that cuts things off, without callers seeing all of the questions, maybe the toughest question, if saved to the end
If people are suggesting new things to look at, new people to bring in to the conversations, think about inviting Timothy W Ryback, historian. Ran into an interesting piece by him at The Atlantic, They have an author's page, more recent articles, plus an old one from the 1980s, not all at The Atlantic,
His last three were on Hitler. "How Hitler Dismantled a Democracy in 53 Days" was in Jan, two more in Feb,. He reminds people how Hitler came to power with just 30-40% support, then used shock-and-awe tactics much like Trump's spewing of Executive Orders. His list of articles have a short explanation each, for example "He used the constitution to shatter the constitution.". See the list to see if you guys and he could have a talk:
Now hard to comment on individual pieces? so it seems generic comments are OK? About article concerning Ayn Rand--Knew people who were Ayn Rand followers, always males. By grad school, just one remained a follower. He asked, so I agreed to read the Fountainhead, in return for his reading a favorite of mine, not political. Afterward, I pointed out was wrong with it, and he said he'd been thinking the same things. He now thought it oversimplified the world, hence its appeal to high schoolers, and that it, second, flattered the wrong personality types, hence appealing to people who would not mind destroying the world IF it's destruction benefitted them.
Later in life found bio stuff on her.
She lived her life by her philosophy, with BAD consequences. Her philosophy gave permission, not only to cheat on her husband, repeatedly, but also to seduce husbands of her best friends. By the end of her life, she was said to be lonely, no children, her former best friends had deserted her, were no longer speaking to her. Not sure why her spouse stayed with her.
You guys should think about bringing in some of the recently laid off 538 team to do polling analysis and data pieces for you guys. Theres a built in audience there and you could be one or the new gotos for people looking for polling averages
Thanks for the new format and thank you for the work you and all at the Bulwark do! I'm eternally grateful that I have this community, in this stressful time. It doesn't necessarily ease the pain but allows me to know there are others out there suffering through this disaster too-I am not alone in my fear, shock and utter saddness for our country and our patriots.
Jim, I have always loved Overtime, and I'll adapt to the weekend edition. I do need to share that "Maybe if Hamilton doesn’t come, they can give Shen Yun a permanent installation?" warranted a snort and a laugh out loud! Thank you for that.
Hope that the daily comes back. It became a helpful duration of all the Bulwark output, making sure I didn't miss any content. I love all the new writers, but it's becoming really cluttered. I came to rely on your daily Overview to make sure I didn't miss anything.
Looking forward to the weekend Overtime. A great start today, and loved your article on Shane--and especially his endeavor to provide stuffed animals for kids.
I liked the daily recap, mostly because I could get through anything I missed but I'm glad to have the comments section. There were a few times I wished I could comment.
I am looking forward to the additional newsletters though! Sometimes it's hard to keep up with all the, as George would say, illegal news.

This is great, Jim. I struggle to keep up with it all; now I can review it all here. Thanks!
I'm relieved to see Overtime is still part of your newsletter - it's my favorite!
Jim, thanks for all you do🍎
Like it. Try to read all week, but miss stuff I see. Here’s to Cleveland from an Erieite

Quick with a joke and to light up your smoke. I'll be the camp jester ;)

Good Job, Jim...thanks for all you do
Best of luck and thank you.
I think this move to the weekend makes a lot of sense - and looking forward to the longer version!
