After hearing the podcast, I bought the book. In chapter 9, there is a nice discussion of Sarah Longwell and the RVAT project in 2020. #BulwarkMovesProduct

More Joe on the podcast, please. Some insight about what he is seeing in DC is much appreciated.

Neville Chamberlain ceded the Sudetenland part of Czechoslovakia to Hitler to bring "Peace in our time" to Europe. Trump, a stable genius, obviously expects a different result with Putin. One definition of insanity is doing the exact same thing again and expecting a different outcome.

Great pod. I love when Joe comes on.

May I recommend something when it comes to discussing Ukraine? Can we stop asking if it is going to happen and just affirm that Ukraine funding is over and move to blaming the republicans? Instead of what happening on the hill with respect to Ukraine” we say “so what excuse our republicans using to try and screw Ukraine today?”

The reason for this is I feel like we keep giving people false hope. We keep giving them the idea if the dems just give them something then Ukraine will be funded. I even saw a political analysis on Fox say “why are their only 190 dems that signed the discharge position. Where are the other 20?” Completely ignoring that 2 republicans have signed the discharge position (both leaving congress in the next few weeeks).

Shoot if we are wrong that that means Ukraine got funded. Win win

I've never been to prison as a prisoner, but when I did criminal defense I did visit prisons to meet with clients. They've got phones. Usually pay phones, but they have them and can have access to them; especially if you have a rotating class of prisoners who can each come on at different days, and you have supporters outside willing to send them money to make their calls, it wouldn't be that hard to maintain contact with the outside world. Bear in mind, the prison facilities for people convicted of crimes are generally a bit more elaborate than the facilities for people in jails waiting trial or holding for a summary offense, which sounds like your story, Tim.

There were also three major career shocks that made me get out of doing criminal defense. One of them was the necessity of going through a client's phone call recording (since all those calls are tapped and can be used as evidence if they're foolish enough to talk about whatever it is they're accused of doing. I of course tell them not to do this but a lot of people in prison awaiting trials on further charges are not very good at following instructions, so I had to listen on all their calls to make sure I was ready for whatever stuff they said.) and listening to him trying to do phone sex with his girlfriend.

Eeeek! Tim and Joe!! 😍 I know I sound like a broken record, but Bannon was terrified of Bernie. He always said Warren, but she's a softer, kinder Bernie. He knew they could beat Hillary (or Warren) because America is spoiled and sexist. Bernie was a real threat to Trump and the Democratic establishment. I'll never forgive the DNC for 2016. /rant
