Well he said unlikely to be elected, not impossible. He is keeping his options open and making a generic statement on probabilities. An actual condemnation would still be too dangerous... and require Mitch being more than a purely transactional political animal.
He's by nature very conservative (with small c) when it it comes to anything that might irritate a constituency of the Republican party. Radical when punishing Dems however.
That's because the danger to them wasn't another Trump term, it was Trump railing against them with the base. It was (and likely is) the likelihood that he could bring some of them down with him in all manner of areas, possibly including the seditious conspiracy areas.
Yeah, it sure would be a shame if we elected a racist as President, wouldn't it? McConnell is right, that would totally suck. I'm so glad he never supported electing a racist to the highest office in the land because that would so obviously be against his firm morality.
Yes, because if Mitch had supported a racist as president, he might have had to defend his wife against personal racist attacks from said hypothetical president.
We have to bear in mind that the "Cocaine Mitch" line that he thought was so funny came from an ad that openly said his Taiwanese-American wife tied him to the CCP.
("China people" in the ad.)
Laughing off racist GOP commentary about his wife is an old habit with Mitch.
Unless McConnell said something further, the most he could say was that a person meeting with people like Ye and Fuentes is "highly unlikely to be elected president". Hardly a condemnation on moral grounds. I mean, suppose such person wound up being elected president? Would his 'condemnation' fall apart?
It's too bad McConnell didn't realize this when he could have taken Trump out. Such a brave man to denounce him now. (Sarcasm)
That's McConnell for you. All of them kind of make me sick to my stomach, literally.

He's such a genius that he could have had people not up until 26 vote to remove Trump with 0 risk to those seats but didnt

And he would still vote for Trump if Trump is the nominee. McConnell cosplaying as someone who cares about our country.
He has been doing that cosplay for a few decades now.
Still won't say his name.
I caught that too.
He who must not be named? I've seen that somewhere.
