There are people who really believe that the most powerful person in the free world -- who had at least self-interested if not enthusiastic support from most of a major political party -- was waging a lonely, heroic battle against a massive Leviathan or Deep State, where everybody with any power was attacking and hobbling him for purely nefarious reasons.

Republicans always feel persecuted. They had all three branches locked down the first half of Trump’s term yet couldn’t resist claiming unending victimhood.
Then there are the Trump loyalists who believe that Trump was always being undermined and persecuted by "establishment" Republicans -- i.e., by people who didn't think their first loyalty was to Trump personally.
